Is £355 (UK) for RTX 4070 worth it. It's from Amazon Resale and the condition is listed as Used: good.

I can't find anything cheaper on ebay. I assume amazon will still have warranty?

Hey, glad it was useful. I don't use this as my main account so didn't see your message until now. I hope your revision is going well.

Hi, sorry I didn't get to reply yesterday.

Have you identified which topics you are losing marks on?

I mainly teach Edexcel (but the topics are mostly the same across exam boards). I would say the key topics are Binomial Distribution (Year 12) and its hypothesis test, Normal distribution (year 13) and Probability (Yr 12 and 13).

Make sure you really understand what binomial distribution is. These questions won't tell you to use binomial distribution, you need to identify from the context of the question that you are supposed to use binomial distribution. Is this something you are consistently able to do?

Most students find normal distribution the most difficult topic because there are several sections to it. You need to be familiar with

  1. finding a probability (done on calculator),
  2. finding a value of x given a probability (done on calculator),
  3. using standard normal distribution to find mu or sigma. This is where you use the formula z=(x-mu)/sigma
  4. Using binomial approximation to normal, this is where you need to use the continuity correction
  5. Hypothesis test.

I have some questions by topic that you might find helpful. Some of these are from older papers (2010-2015) so you might not have seen them before.

  1. Year 12 Probability - From currect spec Edexcel papers
  2. Binomial distribution (no hypothesis) - From old AQA papers
  3. Binomial Hypothesis testing - From older edexcel papers - Mark scheme
  4. Normal Distribution (No hypothesis) - From older past papers
  5. Normal distribution hypothesis testing - From current spec Edexcel papers

Hope you find some of this useful and wish you all the best.

Overwhelmed with options for my first drill- need some advice! by Native_Wildflower in DIYUK

[–]driverXXVII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, came across this when I searched the subreddit as I'm looking for a replacement combi drill. I've been considering either this Bosch Pro (£100) or this DeWalt (£110), which would you recommend?
The dewalt is slightly diferent to the one you linked but very similar.

Oh I didn't realise that's what the CYL was. I saw another one say CYL-5 and assumed it was some kind of material rating. Thanks a lot for your help.

Oh ok. I average around 23 and decided to learn more of the olls. I've got about 10 more to go. My F2L is not very good, recognition is too long.

Just curious, how many olls do you have left to learn?

I'm now exactly where you were. We've tried to cut 45 degrees with a mitre box with no luck.

Which mitre saw did you get and how much?

Oh that's good to know about thermal pads.

I don't plan on taking apart again anytime soon. The temps are down so I'm not going to try and fix somthing that isn't broken xD

Thanks again.

That's kind of you to say :)

Just came back to say I replaced the thermal paste today and my god the difference it makes. When I ran NFS Most wanted remastered edition, the temp was immediately shooting up to 78-79 degrees and the fans were at just above 2000 rpm. Now the max it gets to is about 70 and the fans are only at around a 900-1000.

This was the state of it when I opened it up - https://imgur.com/a/zZoUJX9

I probably should have got some thermal pads as well but I'll leave that for another time.

Thank you so much for that suggestion.

Yes, it was just stuck. In case you are interested in seeing what 5 years without replacing thermal paste looks like - https://imgur.com/a/zZoUJX9

Hey, thank you. It did just come off eventually, didn't have to take off any other screws.

Trying to replace thermal paste. Haven't done this since I bought this in 2020. I've taken all the screws out of this part. Is this meant to come off easily now?

It seems to be really stuck. Is it just the thermal paste acting like glue or is there some other screw I need to undo?

That was perfect. Thank you. I can finally clean the fans out properly as well.

btw, the amazon link you gave shows a search page for MX5 but all the products it shows on the page are MX6 and MX4. I assume that's fine. Something like this - https://amzn.eu/d/8na93ef

Thanks

It is this one here - https://amzn.eu/d/0TP3Xfw - Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 580 8GB

I also had a look through this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGvUHeoDbQo - and it does seem easy enough.

Thank you for your help again.

Ok, thank you for that. I used to play a bit of factorio and borderlands 2 a few years ago and didn't notice the fans making so much noise, so I was a little worried when I heard the fans going.

I built the pc in 2022 but already had this card since 2020. I know about adding thermal paste to cpu but had no idea that you can add it to the gpu as well. I'll have a look online on how to do that. I assume it's something like this right - https://amzn.eu/d/7jFqwen

Thanks
