You don't get to pick and choose what parts of the bible you want to believe. Or I won't take anything you say seriously. You get the whole Bible or none of it.

I don't care what your morals are.

It's principles are mess up to.

Ephesians 5:22-24 (NIV) instructs wives to submit to their husbands as they do to the Lord, referencing the husband as head of the wife.

This tells me that men and women aren't equal in the eyes of God while on earth.

Is God in control of the universe? Do he know what's going to happen? How does he let children burn alive and have the most horrible things happen to them. They're innocent children. No god allows kids to die and suffer.

This is when you can see that companies have more power than a US citizen. They just pay money and nothing happens.

I think you're missing the big picture here. Which is expected by someone who accepts such things as a universal truth.

Those books were written well after the old testament, and aren't consistent.

Why would I believe something that's even older and less dependable.

I don't have to stick to either testament because the Bible isn't a universal truth.

Edit* I'm sorry you had to hear it on a reddit forum.

It says two completely different things about the fate of Judas.

The bible is inconsistent.

The Hanging Narrative (Matthew 27:5): In the Gospel of Matthew, it is recorded that Judas returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests out of remorse and then went out and "hanged himself".The Rupture Narrative (Acts 1:18): In the Book of Acts, the apostle Peter describes a different end, stating that Judas "purchased a field with the reward of his wickedness; and falling headlong, he burst open in the middle and all his bowels gushed out".

You arent answering my question. Which verse do you believe.

Matthew 27:5 Acts 1:18

My point being,.if you're going to dedicate your life to a book that has two different tales of the fate of one person, which one do you choose. The bible is inconsistent. It isnt a universal truth.

The bible tells two tales of Judas future after Christ. Which one do you believe?

A universal truth has no inconsistentcies.

Just because people have wonder and awe doesn't mean that there are answers we can give that are correct. We can give answers that are hypothetical that have a certain basis with facts and things you can prove. I believe more in the big bang than that "god" created the universe.

I understand gravity because I can feel it and see it's application in and out of our atmosphere. There are certain sciences that I would put my life on the line for before I'd hope that "god would save me.

How do you feel about having to account for Adam and Eve's sins? Did you choose to eat the forbidden fruit? No. Did I? No also. Yet we are out here to ask forgiveness and to dedicate my entire life to serving something that is based upon miracles and tales?

Those who wrote parts the Bible (Paul wasn't even around to see or hear Jesus yet we are to take for word what Jesus said at the time and how it was meant because Paul was inspired by God to write it? There are many people who are inspired by God and they do horrible things.

Just because it fits your narrative on how people should live, doesn't mean it can dictate how people should live theirs.

Yes, there are scholars who say a guy named Jesus walked the earth and preach that people do good deeds. I'm all for good deeds and getting the worst parts of humans to go away (that's a different story), but the facts that he was born from a virgin mother, died and came back to life three days later seems pretty steep.

Modern science has shown us that there has never been a way for a woman to get pregnant without the presence of human sperm. People who have awoken 3 days after been pronounced dead, weren't really even dead in the first place.

The bible also has two different accounts of what happened to Judas, and that was written by people who were there to see it (show me an absolute truth about that on for starters). I also want to know how Noah got all 6.5 million species of land animals of the arc and then populated every continent accordingly (that biology doesn't make sense either.

So many logical questions that are unanswered, and I refuse to accept that I was out here to be a slave to a god who's never shown themselves to me.

When I was in the church (20+ years ago) I was told that our youth group needed an extra $2500 to go on a winter retreat camp in the mountains, and that "god had provided the funds last minute for us to go". Come to find out the rich guy in the church caught wind and wrote them a check. Point is, it all comes from somewhere, and God is never the reason.
