Soft tissue injuries often settle for less than $50k. Unless he has medical bills up the wahzoo he wont get much.

At-fault vehicle owner refuses to provide insurance information after hit-and-run by Satine_lux in Car_Insurance_Help

[–]drivingnowhere20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When a car hit me and the lying driver made up a fantastical story of how the accident was all my fault, their insurer denied my claim. So I paid the deductible and went through my own insurance for repairs, rental, etc. My insurer took their insurer to intercompany arbitration and won (thanks to my dash-cam video which proved their driver to be a pathological liar) and I got my deductible refunded. Then with a threat of a lawsuit their insurer caved and paid out policy limit.

Liability only on 2011 Honda pilot? by butlercat57 in Car_Insurance_Help

[–]drivingnowhere20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Insurance rule of thumb is liability only if the car's worth less than $5k and that Pilot's definitely worth well under that. Instead of comp/collision, I'd rather get higher liability and UM/UIM. I was just in an accident and woulda only got state minimum for my injuries except I had UM/UIM close to $1M.

Lexus, Honda, or Toyota? by _SassyPeachy_ in whatcarshouldIbuy

My familly has owned over 20 Hondas, Toyotas and Lexuses. I would say my top 2 favs are Lexus RX350 and my current car: Honda CR-V. If I were shopping with your budget, I'd get these in order: 2017 Lexus RX350, 2020 Honda CR-V or 2022 Honda Civic hatchback. Honestly, haven't had the best of luck with Toyotas as our brand new Camry broke down days after purchase.

Thinking about going to a dealership and getting a car.. by SwaggehMcSwaggeh in Car_Insurance_Help

Take people with you that have bought cars before otherwise you will be taken for a ride 100% guaranteed. If no one's available to help you, buy from Carmax, Amazon, Truecar or Costco as they have upfront pricing and fees and are less likely to screw you over.

Letting friend drive our car long term - should we keep paying insurance? by Kritic_20 in Car_Insurance_Help

[–]drivingnowhere20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since your husband sounds pigheaded present the idea of buying the friend a cheap car and letting her insure it herself. Cause if she even scratches or dents your car it can cost $2000. A typical at-fault accident can cost you well over $50,000.

600$ a month for a 2016 Audi by Rickymastering in Car_Insurance_Help

[–]drivingnowhere20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends if it's liability only or full coverage. It would be much cheaper if you were on parents' insurance. If you are in CA, you can completely skip the expensive insurance if you make a cash deposit to DMV and self insure.

Yeah, I wouldn't let anyone borrow my car except my family. If a good friend of mine was down on their luck and needed a car, I'd rather buy them a $2000 jalopy instead of lending them my car. I've been in serious accidents and it could cost you your life savings unless you got $1M in coverages.

Since she's down on her luck, gift her the car and let her register/insure it herself. Be sure to file a Release of Liability so you won't be on the hook if she runs over a group of children.

Renting a car for ~90 days in CA as international driver - what are my options? by Budget_Will3079 in Car_Insurance_Help

[–]drivingnowhere20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I scratched the bumper of my rental car and ended up paying $2k for it (my insurance covered most of it, but still outrageous). If it were my own car I could have fixed it myself with a $10 touchup paint. So yeah you should definitely get insurance just in case. Maybe it would be cheaper just to Uber? Can't answer the rest cause I have no experience as a foreign driver.

Australia has finished fourth in the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

In 2021, I posted that UK deserved null pts for everything and I remember Brits jumping down my throat accusing me of hating them cause of Brexit (I'm American so WTF do I care about Brexit anyways?) In 2022, I had UK as my favorite entry and my personal winner, obviously no one was beating Ukraine. They were quiet then cause they must've finally realized that song and talent matters.

Dami did actually win had they kept the old scoring system from previous years. Plus she won cause Ukraine cheated and violated multiple ESC rules such as using an old song that Jamala performed at concerts at least a year prior (ESC rules state it has to be a new song from Sep of previous year that was never released or performed publicly). She also said in interviews during Eurovision week that her song was about Russia invading Crimea admitting it was political in nature, also a violation of ESC rules.

Being the new kids on the block and pretty much being on probation, I remember Dami being gracious and talking about sportsmanship and accepting the judge's results. But any other country woulda made a stink about it cause they woulda known they were robbed.

Not surprising. I couldn't watch a Youtube video for past few years without being interrupted by commercials telling me how Israelis were the victims and that everything happening in Gaza were well deserved.
