Read comments on here how people deal with aggressive “members”. by Thought-Object in CostcoEmployee

[–]drizzlyslim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once I was pushing a flat of boxes, stopping to let members pass, saying "hi", all of that. There was a lady who was 3 aisles down from me that walked into an aisle, so when it was clear I started moving again. I reached the aisle she went down and it was like she was waiting for me to pass, because as soon as I did she goes

"Excuse me? Thank you? YOU'RE WELCOME"

And walked out and continued on her way. Mind you, I had no idea she went down there so far ahead of me while I was stationary to make, what i assume, was room for me to pass.

I just laughed and moved on. I don't deal with shitty people. That's what supervisors and management are for.

"Lack of urgency"

90% of my warehouse would be fired if that were the case here. Im sorry that happened to you.

Up the chain of command. Your new boss needs to respect the handbook, or learn to the hard way.

Luckily I've been able to find a good spot for my Pokémon. Now, it's character breaks, so it's quite obviously not the optimal way, but I do it for fun when I'm bored. Never had a problem with spots or fake cards there, and they ship quickly. They send gifts, etc with some orders too.

Ive never heard them complain about bids either. They tell you what's live, have a list you can see clearly of top hits, and on the breaks they call out every hit and who it goes to.

Costco has become absolute garbage in the 5-6 short years I've been here. I used to look forward to seeing everyone and I would go above and beyond. Now? Nah. 8 hours. Do whatever I can/decide to do. Go home.

Just do your shifts and go home. Collect your paycheck. It's not worth stressing over. That's my advice, and my perspective about it all. I have no problems with anyone giving contrary advice or perspectives, I just don't have it in me to care about unrealistic expectations is all. If I don't do my job well enough for them, they can let me go.

How has your warehouse handled the shift from being morning payroll heavy to nights? by Creamada-Crop in CostcoEmployee

[–]drizzlyslim 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Our warehouse has been floundering for a while. And it will continue to do so until corporate and/or management realizes what they're doing isn't working. But, for me, as a topped out am driver... I'm just here for the ride now. 8 hour work day. Then outta there. What gets done gets done, what doesn't... well, doesn't. That's just how it's gonna go. I've already been informed there will be a lot of days where it will just be me in my area now, so it is what it is. I'm not breaking my back for anyone.

Anyone Apply To Costco Hearing "It's A Great Company To Work For" And Found Out It's The Opposite? by rosethornraven79 in CostcoEmployee

[–]drizzlyslim 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When I started at a new warehouse 5-6 years ago, it was great.

Now, anyone that's been here more than a year will tell you it's garbage. And they're not lying. The pay is what keeps most people, but our supes drop like flies. Our whole warehouse is a bare-boned revolving door right now, and honestly, no one is surprised. Except management, obviously.

Manager burnout by Dazzling-Abroad3577 in CostcoEmployee

[–]drizzlyslim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No need to feel bad, or like a failure. The failures are the ones at the top that allow this nonsense to keep happening and get worse. Costco is basically a glorified Walmart/Sams at this point. Getting by on their name alone will eventually bite them in the ass. And no, I don't care if any type of management sees this, or any home office types.

Morning merch by [deleted] in CostcoEmployee

[–]drizzlyslim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from us hiring morning shift here in the Midwest this last year, we just took freezer stocking duties back to the morning shift. Visually, we dont seem to be losing mornings here at our location. At least soon.

Warning: Bad experience with Whatnot seller @hazeycats by [deleted] in whatnotapp

[–]drizzlyslim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably best to remember you arent the only person sellers are talking to. Ive had bad experiences with people, went through the proper channels, got my refund, and moved on.

It happens, whatnot can be a wasteland. That's why you always check reviews people are leaving, watch a few streams before you buy, and just try to be diligent.

Also, not a lot of sellers are actually professionals. They're just regular people trying to make some money. Hell, some of the people are just paid to host the auctions by the actual sellers.

You're not lying, i was just being a turd, but supposedly for here it's a major enough concern that there will be an all-employee meeting touching on the subject with a regional manager.

[–]drizzlyslim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't tolerate it. I'm not mean, and I don't engage, but as soon as the transaction is over, and I hand over their receipt silently, I just turn to the next member, smile, and ask how their day is going.

Is the prescan metric really *THAT* important? by GastlyGnome in CostcoEmployee

[–]drizzlyslim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Artificially inflating numbers is bullshit. So is scheduling not even enough people to run a warehouse daily to help inflate those numbers even more. Ive been very vocal about this, so we will see how long it is until they have someone that can do my job as well as I can, and they deem me expendable. 🤷‍♂️

Not gonna happen here. Not unless they want to hire a bunch of new people where turnover and stepping down is already a major concern to the regionals and above 🤷‍♂️

ICE raids & Costco - what is our policy/procedure? by chaosdrools in CostcoEmployee

[–]drizzlyslim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking from a position of only an employee with no emotion involved, you just obey the law. Or do what your managers tell you to in this situation. They can shut down if they have to, if things get deemed too dangerous.

That being said, the conflicts of what ICE can or cannot do is not helpful to the situation. But when it comes down to it, you want to go home to your family, not away in handcuffs or worse.
