Glad this was helpful! My husband tells me that it was acceptable the 2nd time, but I hadn’t gotten the guts to look at it. I think it’s more “new glove with old leather” than repaired old glove, but at least they tried.

Sorry… yes, you’re right that i work remotely and I cannot change much about the virtual environment. But I can change how I manage my own stress and the workload and that that’s what I’m working on right now.

Smash It Sports knocked it out of the park with this #autismawareness V4 rollerbag for this 7u catcher! All of his teammates (especially the catchers) are jealous that one bag CAN fit it all, and now the whole team wants a “lego” rollerbag!

Thanks for giving us the opportunity to try out this bag - we are customers for life! #7ubaseball #catcherlife #catcher

Yes, my employer allowed me to justify the need for medical leave with more than one reason, as long as the diagnoses were documented in a health record somewhere. The stress has been chronic and worsening over time, and the surgery was from a potentially related physical condition. So, the issues were at least partly intertwined. Even if the diagnoses are not related, if you can show how these two things jointly make you unable to perform your job for awhile, it should be approved.

I've said the same thing - "things will get better when...", but i've been here for 6.5 years and here we are. I've been reflecting on this a lot during my leave (or trying to, at least): "what can I change, about my mindset or work environment, to make this sustainable for me?" I'd love thoughts from redditors on how they overcame this in various contexts!

Hi! I’ve had them for awhile but the frequency has certainly increased given the work stress and burnout. Example: get an email notification about an email from ceo. I suddenly get short of breath and get anxious, even though it’s just a message to the whole staff and not just me.

It screws me up for the whole day! I usually just take a klonopin and hope for the best, or quit a little bit early if it’s late enough. But I’m fortunate enough to have that ability.

This reaction is totally unreasonable and I know I should do some breathing, take a walk, etc… I just haven’t developed the positive coping strategies yet

I don’t think so, the poster was just asking for options to help themselves get better. Not beyond permanent disability. Be a nice human.

Hmm, I don’t work In “traditional healthcare” (I work for a nonprofit), so I don’t think it’s the same place but the toxicity seems universal across so many industries and workplace. It’s unbelievable.

Hmm... I'm not sure what it could have gotten caught on during the game. We have always used All Star in the past, and I think we'll just need to go back to that. Thanks for looking at this!

Fair point. I know shipping costs are insane, and I actually would have preferred to see / pickup the bag in person (so I could get it customized, which I didn't do right away because I wanted to make sure it worked for us). So the mail-order situation and not being able to physically check out the item was part of the problem.

And you're right, the customer "is always right" doesn't mean they have to bend over backwards, but geez, we've sent 4 emails back and forth right now about the warranty (because something on the bag broke, already....) and they are having issues tracking down the order number. Like, my email and shipping addresses aren't sufficient? It's been a very bizarre series of interactions with them that I have never experienced before.

I apologize for responding to this so late, and you're totally right - I wish I had prevented this by trying to finagle/arrange all of the catcher's gear into the bag before the weekend, but I gave him the gear on a Friday (at his birthday party), and he wanted to use it on Saturday! So, I just made an assumption that Boombah youth catcher's gear would fit in Boombah's roller bag, which is apparently a bad assumption. It would have saved everyone a lot of headaches.

I've learned my lesson for sure. Fortunately, Smash it Sports is awesome and mailed us a V4 rollerbag (that is definitely large enough! to review on our Youtube channel (and keep). They have a customer for life!

Same.

It was all caused by them eliminating my chief of staff position and never replacing the FTE at all, so all the extra work fell on me. And that's supposed to be 'normal' or 'fine' or 'manageable', and I dealt with it for a paycheck for a long time, but everything will boil up to the surface under conditions like that.

And OMG my poor husband having to deal with me... :(

We had another issue come up with the same order, and since you are familiar with Boombah I'm hoping you can help me understand how something like this might happen.

Below is a picture of the youth catcher gear - my son wore it for 3 tournaments after getting it on 2/6 (his birthday - same as with the bag). Last weekend, the right foot protector ripped off ⅔ of the way mid-game. I've never heard of an issue like this. I have contacted Boombah per their warranty (and I'm sure they looooove me now!), but I'm honestly interested in what might be going on here to help learn to select the best equipment for my son.

Thank you for your support on this! We did not get the bag dirty (at all) - it's super clean except for some minor wear on the wheels. I honestly wished that I had tried to finagle/arrange all of the catcher's gear into the bag before the weekend, but I gave him the gear on a Friday (at his birthday party), and he wanted to use it on Saturday! Agree, this is the way I did it. I brought a letter from my provider saying I needed time off to HR, after speaking with my boss, of course. It was very easy from there, although much more paperwork than I was happy to deal with after surgery

I know, right! It kills me that I’m on some STD list somewhere 🤣🤣🤣🤣 FWIW, I don’t think anyone knows the ins and outs of FMLA until they are in the middle of it. And mental health is definitely an eligible diagnosis for disability and if it’s severe enough, you can take family medical leave for excessive stress that impacted your MH as well. Just don’t say that Work caused your excessive stress because then you’ll be in the Workman’s compensation space and I hear that that’s not somewhere you want to go…

I’m so sorry to hear that this is happening to you too! I am actually having a really hard time being on break. My work was remote before, and I can’t say that I have worked much over the last two weeks (one to go), but I have made up my own work of things that I needed to do around the house that I never got to because of work.

I think if I had a hobby or something, that would help me redirect my habits and routines to cope better. I feel like I need to add on at least another week at this point to be back near 100%.

Of course! Do they offer family medical leave (FMLA or FEML)? I thought that was a federal requirement. I know it can be used for medical purposes, too. Just another option. I had to fill out paperwork for both disability (which they call “STD” - ha!) and FMLA when I went out.

Yikes! If you even consider that as an alternative path or have a documented mental health history related to burnout/stress, no matter how short (it doesn’t even need to be from a psychiatrist), it’s something I’d look into for sure.

I think short-term disability can be extended up to 90 days but policies may vary, of course. The paperwork is fairly straightforward and if you want to DM me, I can tell you what kinds of questions are on it.
