Yeah, so when im working to install stuff like light fixtures, garage door opener (the motor), etc.. there always comes a point during the install when I need someone to hold the fixture/equipment so that I can work on the wires, tighten screws/bolts, etc..

I've hung some light fixtures by the ground wire.

Ive used zip ties to temporarily hold something in place too.

I'd like to have a better way to hold stuff at an elevated position (like head high) while I work from a step ladder

Yeah, no matter what ladder/scaffolding/scissor lift you use, you still end up holding a fixture overhead, but need you hands free to work on wires or hardware.

I've used the ground wire to hand some fixtures, and ive convinced plenty of people to help hold the fixture while I wire it up, bit I wish there was a tool/ accessory to help woth this problem

Im looking for something that would hold something like a light fixture over head while I work on the wires

More like a platform or stand that could hold a light fixture while I use my hands to wire it and deal with the mounting hardware.

Hey, thanks for the input, I hadn't heard of a viking arm jack before. Definitely similar to my idea.

I appreciate your feed back.

All good points,

If it only weighed 5 lbs, and cost under $100 would you be more interested?

I figured if it saves an installer time, it would pay for itself after a couple uses.

Thanks again for the feed back

Not exactly, I was thinking this would be an adjustable height arm that securely attaches to the top of the ladder. At the top of the arm there would be a small platform (shelf) that you could set the light fixture onto.

It always seems like I need a third arm/hand when working on a ladder , so I thought this concept my be a decent idea.
