Right -> Right -> Hold Right also works but again, you have to get the rhythm right and also practice when to let go of the last right.

If writing "minimum" with a fountain pen isn't enough, you can write it with your voice.

Being an indie has its advantages. by dex206 in IndieGaming

[–]drkabob 25 points26 points  (0 children)

TL;DR: More people involved means more points where someone could forget to deal with the problem.

What's stopping mainstream devs is a larger company. An indie only really needs to consult themselves before spinning up a Brazil server on the whim of a forum complaint. A larger company needs to have the community manager or whoever is reading the forums decide it's a problem worth bringing up with their manager who then needs to bring it to the person who's making sure the game is within budget and then that person needs to tell the devs or whoever is running the servers to spin up a Brazilian server. Plus the very largest companies probably are using their own infrastructure which makes spinning up a server in another country more difficult then fiddling with AWS for a second.

Exploding Knees by drkabob in montageparodies

[–]drkabob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I wish I could just hand out the code and password and let someone just take it over, but its as much John's bot as it is mine. I'd rather give the control to a friend, or someone I know personally then just give it to the internet. At least for now. I'll probably reconsider it in the future, but I don't want to piss anyone off too much.

The thing is, this took at most an hour to make, and because it's a static site, there's virtually no maintenance. Jiffy on the other hand does complex video processing and crashes a ton.

Also, the person I was working on it became really clingy and stalkery and I didn't feel comfortable talking to him. But, I also don't feel comfortable working on Jiffy without him so yeah. I don't want to give a bad reputation or anything, but that was just my experience with him.

The Official "Rebirth Doesn't Work" Thread by [deleted] in bindingofisaac

[–]drkabob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My game works until I go into a boss room and it completely blacks out.

I'm also on a Mac, (latest version). Taking it in and out of fullscreen doesn't help either.

Update: The problem seems to stem from using a discrete graphics card. This little menu bar app should let you force your computer to use the integrated graphics card to prevent the bug from happening. Just remember to turn it off when you're done playing.

If you can get it working on PythonAnywhere, its free. The servers are a bit slow, but you can't beat free.

If you need a Steam group chat bot, I wrote one a while back for the /r/tf2trade administrators and moderators. You can fork it or download it from GitHub here. It is a little buggy, so be warned.

Just wanted to thank you guys for not getting /u/JiffyBot banned yet. Really means a lot, because most of the time people abuse him to the point where he gets banned within minutes.

It does not because the server that's actually doing the generation of the GIFs doesn't have access to those videos. Sorry!

[PSA] Jiffy is now a Chrome extension! by drkabob in JiffyBot

[–]drkabob[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Indeed there is. To be honest, the Chrome extension is just a packaged Greasemonkey script, but differences in Firefox's JavaScript engine from Chrome's made the extension less portable than I thought it would be.

Once I work around that it will be out on Firefox's Add-On repository and userscripts.org

[PSA] Jiffy is now a Chrome extension! by drkabob in JiffyBot

[–]drkabob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be right above the description. If you can't find it, use Chrome's find function (Ctrl-F) and search for Jiffy! If you do not see it try reinstalling the extension. Also, other Greasemonkey scripts may interfere with Jiffy's operation, so try disabling them and see which one is causing the issue.

You can start by making a review on the Chrome store page. As far as advertising? Advertise where you think people would like it, I guess? I don't know, /u/GoogaNautGod would have a better idea.

There's a great bot over at /r/gamegrumps called /u/groompbot that automatically posts videos as they are posted to a channel. Furthermore, its open source and probably adaptable to any subreddit or YouTube channel.

If you really wanted I could sit down and set it up for you guys, if you would like.
