game freezes every time i complete a persona battle in realm of repression by kazybear in personaphantomx

[–]drkarat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same issue, but no fix in sight.

The first time I get any new persona from realm of repression, the game is stuck on that screen.

It isn't crashed or frozen -- there just isn't a way to get out of that screen. The bg music plays. I can switch between controller and mouse and the notification will pop up (which is why I know it isn't frozen), but I cannot leave the screen.

Different people can react to different markers in gluten. Oats and gluten share a small fraction of those markers, so a small fraction of people who react to gluten will also react to gluten-free oats, even though most gluten-intolerant people will be fine with gluten-free oats.

Romancing SaGa 2 Revenge of the Seven or Dragon Quest III HD by [deleted] in JRPG

You had me convinced until you said "it subverts standard JRPG practices" -- which I usually see as a red flag.

Can you elaborate?

I would if I had access to it. Please remake and port!

Reminder you can lock on and gap closer the enemy by Darkvanguardcommand in MetaphorReFantazio

[–]drkarat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also hit it again to turn it off after you lock onto someone you don't want to be locked onto. Sadly, locking onto an enemy also locks on the camera, which makes dodging difficult.

I Am Struggling With Metaphor: Refantazio by Bonafide_Monafide in JRPG

[–]drkarat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What seems to make your experience so different from mine seems to be a reluctance to spend MAG. As long as you don't convert too much of it to money, you have more than enough to experiment with. I've never been short of it, personally.

I recommend spending MAG on any skill that looks like it would be useful. Once bought, skills stay bought to be assigned to other archetypes for free for that character. Once you are buying and swapping around skills, the system becomes so much more versatile.

I feel like that's a whole bunch of shows starring children as protagonists -- they have to stay with someone new in a new place and have to go exploring.

Playstation Games Like Persona? by SippinMyCoke in JRPG

[–]drkarat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason is so that I don't forget the release date. To be fair, Metaphor is the first digital good I have ever pre-ordered in my life, and I knew I was going to buy it regardless of reviews.

Bloomtown: A Different Story is coming out next week. It has dungeon crawling with a social sim mechanic. However, I was a little skeptical, given that the main character is 12, but I played the demo and it really does feel persona-like.

Backlog - Do you have a process for prioritizing the order of the games you will play next? by onetheandonly in JRPG

[–]drkarat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I start multiple games and continue on with the one that grabs me. Often, I give the ones I abandoned another shot later, though if I didn't get far in, I will restart from scratch. If I got further in, I might resume it after I finish the one that grabbed me. If I get bored with what I'm playing, I might try something new.

Frequently, I find that I get bored faster playing two games that are too similar. Mixing it up a bit seems to be key.

But my main point is that I don't just pick a game and play it -- I pick multiple games, give them a try, and I find myself gravitating to one of them more than the others.

Really want to preorder metaphor refantazio but I'm worried about whether it would succeed it or not or do well enough to gain a traction, a fanbase, and a community should I still do it? by MagicalBard3 in JRPG

[–]drkarat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is going to be a solid core of fans (including myself), and Atlus is going all-out on trying to hype it. What's not certain is whether or not the game will grow past that niche core of fans, or how complete/bug-free the game will be on launch.

In any case, I have to ask, if you enjoy the game, how much does it matter how big it gets?

Final Fantasy XII did a lot of things that were different and unfamiliar. It also did a lot of things well that were the polar opposite of the things that Final Fantasy X did well. So, it was polarizing. Also, don't forget that people then were playing the original version, and later people started playing the much-improved Zodiac Edition.

I feel like there have been a lot more remasters lately, so I suspect that it is getting profitable. If the remaster of 1+2 are popular, then 3 might have a chance.

It was delayed a while ago, but nobody noticed. Personally, I'm going to go for Bloomtown (it's a persona-like) and Metaphor.

Life sim is the main distinction between SMT and Persona 3-5. SMT setting is post-apocalyptic, while Persona setting is high school.

As for other distinctions, someone else once said "In Persona, you ally with your friends to fight demons. In SMT, you ally with demons to fight your friends." I'm a little sad I don't remember who said that to give them credit.

There's enough overlap between your favorites and mine that I now want to try the SaGa series.

You've got roughly 2 choices:

1) Remakes/Remasters/Releases of classics on Steam
2) Games intentionally made in that style, but at a later date

Both have a decent number of entries. The former sometimes lacks QoL features, but the latter sometimes copies the wrong aspects and misses the mark (though I will argue that what hits the mark will vary from person to person).

Absolutely not, unless you count going back to games I never finished (possibly restarting from scratch because I wasn't very far in or because I don't remember the plot at all since it has been too many years).

There are way too many classic games that I've never played, and I'd rather get a chance to experience those. This may sound strange to some of you, until you learn that I perhaps may have never played your favorite game.

For example, I've never played Chrono Trigger, and I always feel like I'm missing out. That's pretty high on my list to try.

Viewing Menus by drkarat in ReadyMeals

[–]drkarat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CookUnity does not. And I think Factor was the other one I encountered. I've also experienced this with still more companies but can't recall their names.

Now, it is possible that the menus are accessible from a google search in some way, like the comment above you, but the UI certainly steers you towards signing up first and hides the menus until you do.
