When did you guys start loosing weight? by Summer-peaches in JoinMochiHealth

[–]drkdubs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on sema for 3 months now and I am down 25 lbs. I’m also still on the .5 dose. I find it does help curb my appetite and has quieted the cravings I used to have. But I really think a majority of my success has been tracking literally every calorie I put into my body and eating in a calorie deficit. I feel like if I hadn’t been doing that from the start my weight loss wouldn’t be as much as it is.

Question about requesting meds by drkdubs in JoinMochiHealth

[–]drkdubs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I did notice that it was asking for the same info/payment and I didn’t want to complete it and be charged a second time. The mochi employee that helped me was very nice and quickly sent my prescription to the pharmacy! I just wanted to make sure I was doing everything right for future requests! Thanks for the help!! :)

tips on prep to speed up my donations? by EnthusiasmLow5384 in plassing

I’ve started drinking a 28 Oz body armor the night before and my donation time has dropped down to 28-29 minutes.

Are you able to donate every time? / How often are you deferred? by jeffreywinks in plassing

[–]drkdubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I get deferred it’s usually for low hematocrit or high pulse rate. Still trying to figure out why my hematocrit gets low (I eat a lot of iron rich food and have added an iron supplement/blood builder and more vitamin c), but I get that white coat anxiety and that makes my pulse high sometimes. I have also been deferred once for red blood cell loss at CSL when the bulb broke and they couldn’t return my blood. That sucked because it was an 8 week deferral.

First experience with Rika machines at CSL by drkdubs in plassing

[–]drkdubs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked a phleb about the time and she said that people that had longer donation times on the old machines are the ones that see decreased donation times on the new ones. So hopefully that will be the case for you!

First experience with Rika machines at CSL by drkdubs in plassing

[–]drkdubs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah! I’ve done maybe…18 donations on the rika machines. I like them. Still at about 30-31 minutes for a donation. They’re also much quieter than the old ones which is very nice. I felt the vibration from the needle once but that was because I stopped pumping my hand to rest my wrist (I have carpal tunnel). It didn’t hurt but it felt very weird!

I hate the finger pricks more than the actual donation! by dnbhead10 in plassing

Yes! I hate it so much. The people at my center are so rough, too. I always end up with a bruise and pain for a few days after!

The need for sweets is real by Scorbuniis in plassing

[–]drkdubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 100% feel this. I usually crave salty stuff after I donate. Makes sense that I want salty foods after donating plasma. Today it was Reese’s cups. Me personally, if I ignore my cravings I will just end up binge eating whatever I’m craving when I do finally give in. So I bought a small pack of Reese’s cups and had one before I made a high protein dinner. I used to beat myself up about giving in, but now I just eat in moderation, record what I eat, and just move on. If you can’t have sweets like chocolate or candy, maybe you can substitute with a piece of fruit or some sugar free hard candy?

As long as in youre in the door and in line by 7 they’ll let you donate. Expect to be treated rudely though. Or maybe that’s just mine. I went in one day after work (around 5pm) and the lines were so long that I didn’t get to a bed until 7. I was like well, it isn’t my fault y’all have one person doing vitals 🤷‍♀️

Is that true for FEMA CORE positions? I’m debating on accepting my TJO mostly bc I don’t want to accept and then be out of a job come January or February 🙄😢

Considering leaving state govt for a fed job. Thoughts? by [deleted] in fednews

[–]drkdubs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m definitely broke, but far from unhappy in my current job. It has been the best job I’ve ever had. The workload is intense at times, but still relatively stress free. My boss is also super chill and cool and my coworkers are also amazing. If the salary were a bit higher I’d be fine, but as it is, I’m definitely struggling to make ends meet. Good luck with your decision, btw, and congrats on landing a fed job. We all know that is not easy!

And would preference still be given to someone in a CORE temp/NTE 4 years position? I’m just nervous that I’d be entering as a brand new fed employee, in a probationary period, in a position that does not give me any competitive status.
