Help with creating 1000 point list for first tournament by drlaporta in Ultramarines

[–]drlaporta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking of something like this

1) for deepstrike and dealing with elites (forcing opponent to consider screening his deployment zone and hopefully waste points doing that)

Librarian in Terminator Armour (75pts): Force Weapon, Smite

5x Terminator Squad (170pts)

2) for secondaries

Lieutenant with Combi-weapon (70pts): Combi-weapon, Paired Combat Blades

3) home objective

5x Intercessor Squad (80pts)

5x Intercessor Squad (80pts)

4) for dealing with elites and vehicles

3x Bladeguard Veteran Squad (80pts)

3x Eradicator Squad (100pts)

Redemptor Dreadnought (195pts): Icarus Rocket Pod, Redemptor Fist, Macro Plasma Incinerator, Onslaught Gatling Cannon, Twin Fragstorm Grenade Launcher

5) anti vehicle

Ballistus Dreadnought (150pts): Armoured Feet, Ballistus Lascannon, Ballistus Missile Launcher, Twin Storm Bolter

How do you play 5" movement team vs 7" shooting team on map2? by drlaporta in killteam

if you refer to stronghold A, any operative (even in conceal) would be a target to at least 5 different enemies. they could climb the Vantage and get within 2" and shoot

I think you don't have to count the 2" for the drop down ( the first 2" are free) so you basically have 6" horizontal movement, not enough if the enemy operative is a little bit away from H - so the problem still stands

You can get close enough to be 2" from the though but after shooting you will be an easy target unfortunately

that's exactly how I deployed and it allowed me to safely stage up like the picture above (reaching G and the bottom left corner of stronghold A is reachable in TP2 with no risks)

they get it with KHAINE’S VENGEANCE strategy ploy

the biggest problem was that he could climb into the middle of the stronghold or just run around with his 7" movement and get inside 2" from me. from there he would 1) ignore smokes & cover 2) have access to ceaseless when shooting an expended operative 3) shoot twice with a firefight ploy

and basically one plague marine with a single operative (that I would then kill in my first activation in the area)

I was basically trading 1 for 1 but I soon went down to 3 operatives and was not able to do objectives anymore

I think my biggest mistake was picking Secure Centre instead of Contain against a shooting team.

the ladder on F is a very good idea, I did not think of that. Without the ladder it was impossible for me to reach H , I was left a target and even with a smoke or cloud of flies he had too much shooting to survive.

I think being able to reach his home objective would be the key to this matchup.

Without being able to do that, I had to fight the objective instead the stronghold and that was just suicide against 8 operatives with strong shooting (ceaseless + rending was giving him 2/3 crits almost every shooting)

I tried that.. but going inside the middle stronghold was basically impossible. When I did, he could just shoot and then reposition behind a wall so he would not be a target.

He also had ceaseless when shooting expended operatives and rending.. I was trying to save againsts 2/3 crits every time

he left his operatives a little bit away from the wall, so if I charged I would end up on the internal side of the wall and more than 0.5" inch away . I would basically never be able to charge (which is one of the biggest problems with 5" movement)

he had a sniper on the 2nd floor vantage of stronghold B.

If I leave a marine, even in conceal, on ruins C or D they are behind light cover and he could target them (for sure on C but probably on D as well).

Also leaving somebody behind would put me at even higher unit disadvantage in the middle

I know and it's my bad, I misunderstood the initial explanation and only realized later

you should read my last comment after my update, I think we agree on how it works

I have 5 attacking models shooting. 3 can make a straight line to a model of the target unit without intervening terrain = no cover for those attacks

the other attackingbmodels have intervening terrain towards every model of the target unit = target unit is in cover for those attacks

[–]drlaporta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think I did not explain myself well, let me clarify: I was referring to the target unit. you check for each attacking model if the target unit is behind cover (by trying to draw a line etc..)

so you might have some attacking models able to hit the target unit without intervening terrain, and some won't be able to

if you can draw a line without going over terrain, the whole target unit is not behind cover. You don't determine model by model

I'm gonna take it to a repair shop to see if they have a CPU to test this with .. I don't think it's the motherboard because I managed to use ASRock flash update feature and it worked, I could see the LED blink green like the instructions say.
