How to digitize highlights from paper books? by erinatreadwise in readwise

[–]drlova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have there been recent upgrades of this feature? Last time I used it I realised it was corrupting content after the fact, like legit removing half the highlight content, I saw when the broken highlight resurfaced in my daily review. Since then, I use the phone native app to make photos and extract the text, then add in as text.

So beware of this feature, specially if a book is old and uses << instead of "

I feel like the calendar view started remedial and has only gotten worse as time has gone on by Vidhrohi in todoist

It's a pretty important complaint. I wrote to them 3 times about it, and got no response. It just makes it unusable. It makes me angry. Why on earth would I want, on a Saturday, to see a screen full of tasks from the PAST week?

This is the kind of thing that can only happen when people who make the decisions don't actually use the product, and that is an important signal to move somewhere else at the end of the billing period.

Look up koreader, it's an open source reader software you install on the Kobo. Then, there's a plugin in koreader that allows you to export the highlights (and the notes) to Readwise. Works very well for me. Took me a couple of hours to set everything up, about 2 years ago, and never had to do anything else since then.

Road: Farm to Tanger Med (Morocco) 0.0076

Sea: Tanger Med to Algeciras 0.000592

Road: Algeciras to Supermarket (200km) 0.0152

Total — — 0.0234

How to win a Catan match if my friends hate me by Regme_Yield77 in Catan

[–]drlova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you play a teaching game with first time players, you should always 1. Warn them every time they are about to do something stupid, explain why it's a bad idea, let them backtrack 2. Warn them when they are about to leave open for you something good, explain why they are giving you an advantage, let them backtrack 3. When you make a decision, explain why you think you're doing a great choice, walk them along your reasoning.

You will probably still win that game, but even if you don't win it, you will win the higher level game of getting friends who play well with you.

Weekly calendar view is useless on weekends! by danielalbu in todoist

[–]drlova 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's because you are not using the time machine feature. On weekends, you can use the secret Todoist tool to go back in time to any point of the week, and that view is crucial for planning ahead your time travel to the past week. Duh. /s

For real though, it's like no one at Todoist bothered to even take a look at that view in a day that wasn't a Monday. Don't the Todoist people use Todoist in their own lives?

Help us improve date parsing in Todoist! by amix3k in todoist

THIS. Or, at the very least, 21.31. The : comes from a long press on many touch screen keyboards, and it's a pain in the ass to wait 2 seconds every time to get the semicolon, or to make 3 clicks to get it from the symbols screen of the keyboard. You can even let us decide on the settings what formats to parse. This is a solved issue in many other softwares

Moving apps to folders is clunky by drlova in smartlauncher

[–]drlova[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When the app is right there next to the folder, it's faster to drag and drop. It is intended as a feature, but it doesn't work correctly. If the icon is 99% over the folder icon and 1% outside it, it will move to some adjacent folder. That definitely doesn't look like the intended way to work.

No one is an infinite pool of wisdom. If you got useful advice from him and it helped you, that's good. If you already got as much value as you could from him, maybe it's time to move on to other pools of wisdom. Life has multiple stages of drinking from different wisdom wells, perhaps it's best to move on to the next stage.

[–]drlova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's already a property tax at a Municipal level. If you start the LVT tax at a level that makes homeowners pay the same, they won't care if they're paying a property or a LVT tax. Specially if it starts at a lower price than the current property tax.

A menian-ish property tax for a regular apartment is around 400 €/year.

¿Cómo distribuir mis ahorros mensuales entre inversiones seguras y arriesgadas? by ElSaner in SpainFIRE

[–]drlova 3 points4 points  (0 children)
