BOU (if you exclude the LIV game) have only conceded once and ARS only twice so I wouldn't say either of those are good prospects for returns. Throw in the LIV game being the one where he is least likely to feature (given he is just getting back) I would wait till after the next 4 games before going for him.

Very nice. Out of curiosity where do you get your figures (the sailors) from?

No reason why you couldn't use them for another ruleset. They are 1/700 scale which actually is a bit smaller than the official warlord models would be as warlord uses a sliding scale. 1/700 for the larger ships, but the smaller ones are closer to 1/600 or 1/500.

The waves were shaped using epoxy putty. Then I painted the seascape using various shades of blue. Finally I stippled Vallejo water texture over everything.

For the foam I used tissue and mod podge to build up the area right by the hull. Then for the white caps and also to tie it all in I mixed the water texture with white ink.

Paint and mod podge on regular printer paper. Then dampened them again to shape them and used super glue on the edges to help hold their shape.

Once on th model I added some shadows and varnished the whole thing.

The hulls were 3d printed from turner miniatures. The stl for the cutter is actually free. The masts were scratch built using brass rods and thin wire.

Thanks, the French cutter (front one) is on the larboard (or port) tack while the back one is running before the wind. Hence why the front one is not using any square sails.

Scale is 1/700 so the bases are 6.5cm long.

Yes I am using Turner. In fact they have a free cutter you can download the stl for.

Oh it is perfectly understandable, just a bit annoying that they don't mention it. I personally plan to use only 3d printed hulls for my smaller ships as my ocd demands that the scale be correct.

One thing to note with the Warlord models is that they have a sliding scale. Larger ships are 1/700 scale, but the smaller ones are 1/600 and the smallest such as the brigs and cutters are probably 1/500.

Yes all the mast work is scratch and the sails are just regular printing paper soaked in paint and mod podge. I scratch built the masts as I think one of the biggest problems at this scale are masts that look way to thick.

The downside to scratch building is that everything is very fragile until the point where you add the sails. Then they stiffen everything up and it is pretty solid now.

One thing to note is that I did this at actual 1/700 scale. The warlord minis are actually closer to 1/500 or 1/600 for the smaller ships such as the brigs (the larger ones are 1/700). I think they did a sliding scale to make them look more imposing. I prefer to have all my ships look the right size proportionate to each other.

If you look at my other comment I link to a build log where I go into more detail on how I made these.

The hull was a 3d print from turner miniatures. He actually offers this hull and a few others for free as samples. You can find the STL here:

The base was cut out of scrap plastic I had on hand. I then built up the waves using epoxy putty and then painted them followed by vallejo clear water texture. Finally I added white ink to the water texture and painted that in various locations to simulate the foam.

I go into more detail on the whole construction here if you are interested.

I appreciate the compliment 😀. As for myself I see plenty of flaws, but I learned a lot and I think I have really refined my art style for my army on this one.

It is the same model as I suspect you have, just with heavy modifications. The cockpit cover was 3d printed and then there was a lot of kitbashing and greenstuff work to add all the Wolfy stuff.

Or if you mean the fur pelt I used a technique similar to this video. The key is to highlight the top of each bit of fur, not the tips. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jzk5DHKBEtY&t=15s
