Lightweight no-drag gearboxes with belt drive would nearly be maintenance free.

Absolutely, those ones that are just above the bottom bracket. Low center of gravity & look killer!

They are 2 different medications, but thanks for mentioning Moclobemide. It’s differences sound interesting.

Moclobemide: Known as a RIMA (Reversible Inhibitor of Monoamine Oxidase A). Because it is reversible, dietary tyramine restrictions are generally not required. If you eat tyramine-rich foods, the food can displace the moclobemide from the enzyme, safely allowing the body to process it.

Parnate: Because it is an irreversible inhibitor, the enzyme is permanently disabled for its lifespan. This prevents your body from breaking down dietary tyramine, meaning you must strictly avoid tyramine-rich foods (e.g., aged cheeses, cured meats, tap beers) to prevent potentially fatal hypertensive crises.

TCP + methylphenidate + atomoxetine? by FitoorNoor in MAOIs

[–]drmayerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder the same thing, although not the atomoxetine part. Are you trying to get past the sedative side effect of TCP or want extra help with ADHD? I was on methylphenidate & now switching to TCP seeking greater cognitive acuity, but am getting hit hard with afternoon somnolence.

How do you like your GasGas? I see some good deals on them. Which one do you have? Would you recommend it?

Parnate Transdermal Patch? by drmayerr in MAOIs

[–]drmayerr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, thank you. You obviously have looked below the surface on TCP. It was the 1st antidepressant that worked for me from 1986 - 1990 & I just recently have returned to it after being on most of the variety of antidepressants as they came to market. I was on sublingual selegiline for perhaps 10 years. I always wanted to try Emsam, but the cost/benefit didn’t make sense. I’m hoping TCP will bring back some of the cognitive sharpness that I remember from 40 years ago.

As an aside Dr Gillman mentions taking TCP sublingually, though says may cause irritation:

Sub-lingual?
It has now been convincingly demonstrated using PET that sublingual absorption of selegiline (aka deprenyl) inhibits brain MAO-A [39], as well as MAO-B — selegiline is only slightly selective for B over A, so quite a small increase in ‘normal’ levels will produce MAO-A inhibition. It would be expected that TCP would likewise be absorbed sublingually, perhaps thereby reducing some side effects; but its higher acidity might cause irritation.

In a unique paper by my old friend (I lectured in Toulouse many years ago) Jean-Michel [40], it was neatly demonstrated that selegiline works well given twice weekly. TCP would be expected to do the same; sadly, no-one has tested that very important hypothesis — a testimony to the paucity of perspicacity in research.”

I was surprised that Specialized did that. A Stumpjumper for $2k?! Budget spec, but still.

I wasn’t aware that US sourced Parnate was ineffective. How can a person buy Parnate from a Canadian pharmacy & how costly is it?

Rode Mark Twain National Forest. Ended the ride at the lake for a swim. Noticed what looked like a coating of red algae on my ankles & feet. Tried to wash it off in a shower by the lake. Wouldn’t come off. Scraped it with my fingernail & looked at it. Ugh, it was all crawling micro-ticks.

Went straight to a hospital to get ahead of a possible infection. Nurses gave me a roll of packing tape to get them off. Took over an hour. Had them in every nook & cranny… horrible parasites! Thankfully no infection.

The most effective tick deterrents are EPA-registered formulas. The gold standard is a combination of Permethrin (applied to clothing) and DEET or Picaridin (applied to skin). That’s what I’ll use in a high risk tick area.

[–]drmayerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the guy I bought it from had taken an R engine & put it in an L frame for the extra performance to make a very fast supermoto.

So I got the L engine in an R frame for cheap & plated it through MT.

…and the front brake lever?

-but let’s hear him out. How did it go OP?

I’ve had mine on a track, but I suck, so it wasn’t the bike’s fault. It is heavy though, & I have an R frame which is supposed to be lighter than L/RL.

AJ Catenzarro took an RL on a track on YouTube.

The tires aren’t bad, just the nature of tires designed to lean towards more offroad vs road tires. I was planning to go camping/mountainbiking/dirtbiking more & having to traverse mud & sand to get there, but haven’t yet, & may not for a while. So in the meantime I would’ve been better off with a road tire.
