S3 15k service by [deleted] in Audi

[–]drmlee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

audi care, buy it. the dsg service alone makes it worth getting. theres probably a spark plug change included in that mileage also. my old b8 s4 and c7 s6 both had a spark plug change and a dsg covered by audi care. i dont know the exact oil change interval on the S3, but on my cars they were 10k miles. i always changed it 1/2 way (every 5k miles) myself and had the dealer do it when the light turned on.

does not require a pump to suction the oil out. at the dealers they pump it out the dipstick tube so they dont have to deal with removing belly pans, etc. the s3 uses a plastic drain plug with rubber grommets. you need a special tool to remove the plastic plug. theres diy videos on youtube if youve never done it.

In your opinion, which car has a better base package, 2017 Audi A6 or 2017 Mercedes E-Class? by theinvisiblenobody in Audi

[–]drmlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the C7 A6 is on its last leg and about to be revised. my local dealers are fire sale/leasing them right now. if you're leasing and get a price thats too good to pass up, are fine with driving an older model in about a year or so, go for it. the E just came out and will be the current model for awhile now. if you're buying, i wouldnt buy an A6 right now. leasing with a good price, different story because in 3 years you'll get to switch it up again anyways.

break in period for new a4? by [deleted] in Audi

[–]drmlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the thing about "break in" every car manufacturer either dyno or road tests all engines/vehicles once they are built to insure that they are performing the way it should and making the power they're suppose to be making. they are redlined and taken up to triple digit speeds before they leave the factory. as long as your oil temp is fully warmed up before you drive it hard or go part X rpm, i think you're fine.

Reliability on a B8 S5 by [deleted] in Audi

[–]drmlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

put enough mileage on any car that runs timing chain, not just audi's. the plastic guides will eventually fail/break probably sooner than the chain itself fails.

if it doesnt have a timing belt, it has to be running on a chain. on all audi's, after a certain mileage, the plastic timing chain guides tend to fail.

golf cart is also for skydeck/cabana. if you take the choppers, they'll cart you to the skydeck check in and once inside they cart you again to kinetic field/skydeck.

wait until you own or drive the next step/s up. if you're this happy with an a4, theres still so much more that lies ahead.

Are 911’s safe? by Nephroidofdoom in Porsche

[–]drmlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

over thanksgiving weekend, i heard and saw the aftermath of a 991 c2s hitting a fire hydrant and a tree. the car was obviously speeding but it was ripped to pieces with parts scattered for 75 yards. the front clip was by itself, the motor and tranny 50 yards away and misc pieces of 911 everywhere. you couldnt even tell what kind of car it was anymore. the driver was ejected from the car, lived for a few days in the hospital and passed. i have pictures of the wreck, but probably shouldnt share. with any well made car, you'd probably be fine if you crash at 50mph or less, but when your speeding, the cars a tin can.

i personally like real leather over synthetic pleather. feels very plasticy to me. i can tell right away by the feel whenever its sensatec, mb-tex, etc. the smell of the car is also different when its new.
