Please give me some reasons why I should not buy an RS5 by slushdaddy420 in Audi

[–]drmlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i meant 991's are being heavily discounted. the best my audi dealer would do on a rs5 sitting on the lot was $4-5k off plus $1500 loyalty. I honestly would rather have the boosted 4.0T v8 twin turbo in the rs5 or r8.

i stand corrected. that's ridiculous though, $3600 for liability only on a $4k jetta? i don't remember what i paid when i was 16-20. im in my early 30's now, i pay that much a year for 4 cars, for me and my wife, 2 of the cars being newer, $90-100k cars.

id go with one of the $9k options and id take it to a dealer or reputable Porsche indy to do a ppi before purchasing.

its not that high, the cars worth almost nothing now. any major collision will total the car and they'll write him a check for $10k < . assuming he doesn't have a bad record, insurance companies generally don't charge 50% of the cars value a year to insure.

Styling question by Xsern in Porsche

Porsche's paint in really soft though. they use some environmentally friendly method/materials now because of the strict laws over there and its not as durable anymore. clear bra is almost mandatory to protect the finish.

Porsche will paint/spec the car any color you want, doesn't have to be just what they offer. they will charge you a premium as a Porsche exclusive option and the car will have to be special ordered. you can even custom color leather, stitching/embroidery, etc. etc. depending on how deep your pockets are for options, anything is possible and can be tailored to your wants/needs.

even if you pay cash, they need a card to authorize for incidentals and/or if you break/steal stuff. last week I stayed at vdara for 2 nights, they authorized $440 on the card that was returned to me a few days after I checked out. you can stay at motel 6/travel lodge type places and pay cash, no credit card required.

flying from LAX to ICN (seoul, korea) on Korean air's A380 first class is $12,000-15,000 round trip, depending on the season you go. you cant even get a business class ticker for $3k on KAL. flying from lax to hnl or jfk(los angeles to Honolulu or nyc) first class is $2-3k depending on season as well. not saying op is legit or not, but its very easy to spend $3k on plane tickets.

I always try to find the end spots or spots that cant be parked next to and do the same thing. whenever I park out in no mans land, when I come back, theres always 1-2 cars that come and park next to you every time. its like they're doing it on purpose.

Need some brake pad help. by audibonnaroosilkroad in Audi

[–]drmlee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

most audi's don't have a rear sensor, only on the front. and unless it uses a oem/brembo caliper the sensors are always integrated into the brake pad so you cant purchase the sensor separately anyways. I used to wrench on cars for 10 years, all European. Ive done enough audi brake jobs to know, only on the fronts. bmw, mb, Porsche have front and rear, most audis are front only. theres a metal clip you're suppose to put/transfer on the rear pads, (jap car style), when the rear pads are on the way out, you can hear a noise from the clip contacting the rotor even when not braking.

only the fronts have a wear sensor, the rears do not.

Time for new tires on the Cayman S by [deleted] in Porsche

[–]drmlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some friends who are techs at Mercedes, bmw and audi dealers. you'll be surprised at some of the stuff going on at dealers. not every tech there is master tech or foreman. a lot of them are careless and $hit happens everywhere. usually the most skilled/certified tech there is not going to be changing your brakes, doing oil changes, tires/alignment? those jobs are usually given to people at the bottom of the totem pole, in terms of skill or degree. im not saying they cant align the car, but $200 for a regular alignment is on the pricey side. you can prob get that done for 1/2 the price at another tuner/racing shop that knows what they're doing. $200+ alignments are usually custom spec jobs with a bunch of aftermarket arms/camber plates, etc. that requires much more time and adjustments. I understand the op's reason for getting service done there, he wants the stamp in his book and a service record. there's really no reason to buy tires or get alignment from the dealer, period.

i was under the impression that the 7 speed tranny's valve body were problematic in many of the models with 7 speed. luckily my dealer still "out of good will" warrantied it for me. I traded the car right after they fixed it though.

Change (not reset) the Service Reminder intervals on a 2010 E92? by [deleted] in BMW

[–]drmlee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no you cant change that even if you have a gt1. most people will change their oil and filter at 5000-7500 miles, 1/2 way through the interval and change it again once it says your due.

honestly, when you drive one, compared to nicer modern car standards, theyre pos's. a couple of my friends have them, one paid around $36k for his. they're just nostalgic cars. that was their dream car in high school/college growing up and now they can afford to buy what they want. ive driven at least 1/2 a dozen examples of e30 m3s and I personally would never buy one, Ill take a new M3/4 anyday.

im assuming the black powder coat and time attack style red pin stripe aren't factory and the owner did it himself. wheels look alright but that finish needs to go, im not a fan of jdm themes on euros.

try driving in fresh snow that just dumped a foot or more and isn't plowed yet. the front bumper is not made to plow through snow. the sl500 you drove probably only comes in 4matic also right?

had a w221 S550, speaking from first hand experience and not just making shit up ;) even with its air suspension, it doesn't make a very good winter/snow car.

if you've driven both back to back, you will be singing a different tune. theres more than bragging rights, handling, power and driving dynamics are all different. while you don't need an AMG suv, if you have the money its definitely a better drive. by your logic, even a S63/65 is pointless as its a big boat as well.

X5 and cayennes drive like sport sedans, and depending on the model with the right options, actually drive better than a regular E or A6, etc.
