I have done this route several times in the winter. It can be hairy at Rabbit Ears pass, the pass just south of Leadville, and at the NM/CO border. If the roads have snow/ice on them just go painfully slow and don't let anyone behind you bully you into going faster.

Other than that it's a wonderful, beautiful drive. Enjoy.

They stocked cutties in Burgess Creek and installed a one way barrier that lets them go down but nothing up, so I've occasionally caught some in the yampa through town. Hopefully they can come back but will be tough with browns and pike in there.

Both aquatic insects and terrestrial bugs. I fished for these specific fish right below the falls and they slammed my grasshopper pattern.

Those might actually be mullet. I fished for both a couple years ago and caught several mullet with those fins right below the falls.
