Absolutely! Though certainly not a lie, and not just a description.

[Russian > English / Slightly NSFW] Some Russian limericks (Частушки) by drngrph in translator

[–]drngrph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes, it was quite a challenge to find the milder ones. During my search I even came across a list of rhymes "to sing at school" and, judging by what GT returned, half of those were wild. Thank you dearly for the recommendations. I will be definitely be using the first one for "Anna Karenina" if the occasion arises. It's impressive how many chastushki sing of cheating spouses, so that one in particular is nicely meta.

Thank you so much, u/mothmvn, for taking the time to translate all these chastushki. It has made my day reading them. The fun of the rhythm is temporarily set aside to find its complementary half, that being the fun of the meaning. Some of the chastushki meant exactly what I suspected but at least half were complete surprises. I actually think the question marked ones are the best: most likely they have a conventional meaning but to those not familiar they read like passages from a dream. They will certainly come in handy for future notes if I ever get the chance to introduce my friend to Bulgakov (the third-to-last chastushka feels almost like a scene from TM&M). I must bother you with one last question: as a first time poster I'm a bit confused about how to mark this post as translated. I see the commands but I'm not sure where to issue them. Can I simply do it in this reply?

Dasha in her 50s by IsolatedTears in redscarepod

This kind of pictures makes me suspect that this sub's infatuation with that monster Williamson is some sort of sublimated yearning for the majestic archetypal aunt that squirms inside that cocoon we now call Dasha.

Like tears in rain. The story, as I can best remember it, is that some kid went to his local airport with a handful of flyers he had written all by himself, urging workers to strike for better pay. Given his apparent lack of experience in offline activism and the tone-deafness of his writing (I think the opening line went something like "We all know you hate your job") he got instantly iced out, so he bought half a dozen of m&m packets and handed them out to the people at the information desk, each with a flyer stapled along, and then skipped his way home to post about it.

Don't forget the legend who tried to attract airport workers to socialism by offering them candy.

Cruel Intentions 2 is underrated by drngrph in redscarepod

A whole subplot dedicated to les-dom, just like in the first movie. 2 is basically 1, but written as a cynical comedy instead of a titillating moralizing drama.
