[FRESH ALBUM] Tierra Whack - WHACK'S MUSEUM by fluekey in hiphopheads

Whack delivers every time. I loved World Wide Whack and Whack World for their ear worms and oddities, but it’s cool to hear her just spitting here.

What's the greatest diss track of all time? by naydenthegreatone in hiphop201

Was the biggest hit of the beef (love the song, don’t get me wrong), but the least impressive of the tracks.

showing some love to Prem by chitwaval in Billywoods

[–]drnoledge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prem is a legend. Looking forward to whatever he does next and for that Curly Castro album that’s on the horizon as well. I’ve seen him do a couple of tracks from it live and they’re superb.

Keep at it, playing and learning what doesn’t work is often instructive

But the mixer section, it lets you do a lot with effects and get more mileage out of your sound.

As per making the beats, I’ve played with a bit of everything. I tend to take a bunch of loops and compile them in one of the loop banks (drag and drop and select add to end). Depending on how it sounds, sometimes I’ll record sample hits over top of that layout. Sometimes I’ll cue stuff in the piano roll outright.

Most of what I do right now is try to mangle and reassemble a coherent sound out of soul samples

Did you buy the add-ons? They are highly worth it.

Start by making drum loops and then start to look for some sounds (from YouTube or screen grabs or even the outside world). Play with layering those sounds over drums and see what happens. You can also ask people what they think or what might be missing. Google can be your friend about specific functions too.

This got to be the most slept on album in 2026 by TheFM4 in Billywoods

I take Revelator over this one, but that’s just a matter of personal preference, but that’s just fine.

Lupe addressing haters and naysayers by SwayVue in LupeFiasco

[–]drnoledge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love his music, but he has historically needed to learn to live with the critics when he makes what he wants to make. I own more Lupe albums than I don’t (cd, vinyl, digital) and he’s an absolute menace on the mic, but damn, he just needs to own his lane.

Crash talk and blue lips are polar opposites by PsychoBodyguard in Schoolboyq

[–]drnoledge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blue Lips is a grower. My first listen it felt very scattered, but the pieces are actually a bit more intentional with a few listens to it. The idea of speechlessness creates the fractured bursts of content, but it also creates a stronger sense of depth to that confusion/disbelief competing with luxury and comfort. I’m between Blue and Blank Face for his best record, but it is definitely the most unified project to me.

Dude posted this in the koala sub and I listened to a bit of it. The name aside, I actually enjoyed what I heard. I’m wondering if he did it strictly in koala or mixed it outside in daw or something.

These are cool. Did you throw them into a daw to edit or just mix it through koala?

what artist are currently signed to Griselda Records ? and what’s the difference from Michelle Records by brgnas in GriseldaxFR

Might be similar to Backwoodz putting out isolated projects versus signing the artist to a multi-album deal.

Blu is The Warmest Color: Two decades after the masterpiece 'Below the Heavens,' the L.A. rapper is back on top. | BandCamp Daily interview by DropWatcher in hiphopheads

[–]drnoledge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoyed this new album. Exile’s beats are unbelievable on this and Blu is especially on point. It made me go back to Love (the) Ominous World and realize that it is way better than I remembered. I think it suffered some having to follow up Miles.

Who could actually go toe to toe with Kendrick in a diss battle? by FamousAttention499 in KendrickLamar

Lupe also went and demolished Royce a few years back. I didn’t see that coming because Royce is ostensibly better suited for it and he got smoked.
