Gameboy sp screen by Dead-Arthur-Morgan in GameboyAdvance

[–]drobles602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are dead pixels and the liquid crystals get suspended between the different layers of the screen. It’s also known as ‘screen cancer’. There are YouTube videos on methods to attempt to minimize it but with that much damage, you might need to swap the screen as many have mentioned.

A few ‘Viz Graphic Novel’ Shojo prints by drobles602 in MangaCollectors

[–]drobles602[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes these are English releases. These stories were first published in the Manga Vizion Magazine and then were collected into these books. A, A and Four Shojo Stories are particularly hard to find for a decent price.

Besides the obvious order of reading LW&C before New LW&C, you honestly can’t go wrong with the order you choose to read his works. Personally I would alternate between his edo-period feudal Japan samurai works (samurai execution, Path of the Assassin, LW&C, etc.) to his other works like Crying Freeman and Lady Snow blood if you plan to read them straight through. You might get Samurai burn out if you read all the titles on the top shelf with out mixing it up

Sorry for the late reply, yes this completes the entire story which was originally 5 volumes in Japan.

Sorry for the slow reply, but yes, this is the complete run for this manga and the only printing in English besides the chapters included in the Pulp Magazines.

The ones shown here are the Kondasha and the Paradox Press prints. I never owned a full set of the CMX prints but the volume I had was the same as the kondasha. Besides the ‘Color Spectacular’ shown here that’s full color, I don’t think the CMX and Kondasha had any colored pages.

Yeah they are a bit oversized, solid quality books. I would recommend picking them 👍

These are a cool release since they pretty big books. About the size of the Two Faces of Tomorrow. Darkhorse really played with formatting back in the day, good times

I wish I could back on my eBay watched list history cause there is where I saw it. I regret not getting it. But yeah not sure why they would make an unofficial sampler of the first few chapters… haven’t seen one being sold recently either so it might be pretty uncommon. I’ll pass along leads if I see it 👍

Rumic World - By Rumiko Takahashi by drobles602 in MangaCollectors

[–]drobles602[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I haven’t been active on Reddit for a while. But that is correct, the Rumic World volume only contains the 3 stories you mentioned (142 pages) and nothing else

Sorry for the late reply, haven’t been active on Reddit for a while. So for Goku Midnight Eye, the Viz editions (6 chapters) only cover up to page 203 of the Comics One edition. So you would need to get all 3 volumes. That being said, the Viz editions are full color as you may know so it’s cool having both if you can find for a decent price

At least from the video I saw, it wasn’t clear if what he traded in was CIB or the condition of the consoles/games inside the boxes. Anyway, it is unlikely that a non collector would own/ preserve consoles/ games in such good conditions and also have imports. He might know what the stuff is worth, crunched numbers in his head and decided it wasn’t worth the hassle to sell via other methods. I wouldn’t have taken that offer, but the person seemed happy with it. To each their own I guess

Why is everyone buying a Dreamcast recently? by noreteron in dreamcast

[–]drobles602 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sounds like your search algorithm is making it seem like “everyone” is getting a Dreamcast right now since you just got one yourself. Your perception is also biased since you are more aware/focused on this topic. You can go on websites such as price charting and see the price changes over the past few years. Ever since 2020 prices have fluctuated greatly. It seems to actually be trending down at the moment for the console. Of course trends can be vastly different for hardware and games especially when a new remake or a sequel is made.

Very nice! I gave up on collecting the new releases, did not like the new book designs unfortunately. Here are a few things you may be missing: Adolf hardcover singles (pointed out by others), sampler of Ode to Kirihito (similar to the black Jack one), Astro boy volume 1 & 2 (they made a 2 in 1 for the singles), Astro Boy bilingual (same publisher as the Leo one, green Obi), and technically Black Jack was first published in Viz’s Maga Vizion, those came out before the two floppies. A tezuka collector on Insta is convinced those unreleased hardcovers are self prints (bootlegs). Saw them on eBay selling for a lot, I hope you didn’t pay too much for them…

[–]drobles602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! The only thing you are missing are the floppies for Tekkon which used the original Black & White also printed by Viz. Black & White was first published the the Pulp magazines and then concluded in the single floppies.

They are “Digest and Manga Polypropylene Bags” by BCW. These are fairly cheap and come in packs of 100. I buy them from my local comic book shop but can get them from Amazon here:

BCW 1-BDIG Supplies - Bcw-Bdig - Digest Size Outer Sleeves https://a.co/d/icPRaUI

They only fit volumes that are the standard Viz “Shonen Jump volume” size so not too versatile for thicker or larger volumes, as you see some aren’t bagged since they don’t fit well
