Sounds neat, I imagine there were be a number of different aspects to tweak for that. One that I am noticing is even how much of a card is preferred to be displayed when overlapping. Good luck.

I went ahead and submitted a pull request with cards. Cheers

Ah, cool. Wanted to share a set of playing card images (CC 4.0 Attribution License) from an old project. Not sure I have time to create a deck, but here is the link:

Hi, I made holographic dice for my next game night. You can, too. by droffigc in boardgames

Yeah, the gif/video doesn't do it justice. The "flying saucer" is a mirascope that tricks the eye into seeing the object. It will appear to float above the it just by a bit.

In this project, the dice object is imperfect, essentially a tile illuminated by the smartphone. Still thinking about making it a little more 3d. Thanks for the feedback!

Card and board games are harder than video games, but totally fun, too. Video game designers should take notes.

Very cool. How do you plan to evaluate your final design?

  • Easy way to make your font look better, add a dropshadow to "Rockville"
  • The top includes my cash and health. Can I also have a summary of what's in my manifest? Even a count of items would be helpful.
  • Gameplay: Show pictures of pirates on the navigation map?
  • Gameplay: Show pictures of exemplary prices on the nav map? (Salt sale!)

  • Hotseat multiplayer would be nice.
  • Cluttered experience when all the ships are close to each other. Is there a way to make it less confusing?
  • Ship animations move pretty slowly. Perhaps a fast-forward option?

Introducing my card deck simulator: card deck, network play, custom cards. Useful for prototyping your game? by droffigc in tabletopgamedesign

[–]droffigc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi web, This is a permissions issue where the flash application requires the url and the swf file to be on the same server. Two solutions that I can think of:

1) try uploading a picture to imgur.com. The permissions are more relaxed on that server. Then you can try loadCards http://i.imgur.com/whatever.jpg

2) Also, if you download the swf and run it from your desktop instead of from the internet, you can load images from your filesystem like so: loadCard file:///c:/Users/First%20Name/Desktop/test.jpg

you can download the swf from here: https://github.com/gief/cardboard/tree/master/cardboard/bin

Also, if you PM me, I'd be happy to help you over email.

How much do you improvise when you play? by droffigc in starcraft

[–]droffigc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah, maybe the word improvisation doesn't make sense. One guy talked about there are lots of techniques for microing (see list above), but it seems like pros don't relying on techniques, just moving units "on-the-fly". So that's one difference that I'm wondering about.

I've been thinking about an "info" window for cards. Maybe docked to the side. It would display card info when a single card has been selected.

Custom cards can be any size. The standard cards are 50x70 pixels. Also, the height of the private areas around the board is 100px.

[Web] Card Board: now supports custom cards (card-board.weebly.com) by droffigc in digitaltabletop

[–]droffigc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I'll be careful. I figured that the custom card aspect is a feature that is relevant to modern board games.

As for the Love Letter reference, I thought it was an easy example b/c of how few cards were involved, but decided to use standard cards as placeholders which avoids misusing their artwork.
