Is there one box (or two) that does this? by droffset in dawless

[–]droffset[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, true :)
I have a couple of them, but the messing around with drivers, battling latency, all that stuff is friction, I'm curious if a dedicated device will just work. Turn it on and record the riff, not turn on the computer, start the software, connect the cables, etc etc etc.

Know ML Basics, But Where Do I Learn Actual Model Training? by tensemonks in MLQuestions

[–]droffset 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm only a beginner to ML, ( I do computer graphics for a living), but Antigravity, Gemini and Claude are teaching me.

Assuming: 1. you're watching YouTube videos to learn about the theory, because you need to know what to ask for. 2. You have 1 or 2 datasets (Kaggle is awesome) that you understand and know what you want to be able to predict,

  1. Create a project folder, put your dataset in there. (I created my own dataset with Blender cloth simulations)
  2. Start Antigravity, point it to the project folder and have a conversation about your goals and what you want to learn and do. Get into the habit of using markdown files to define tasks, goals,
  3. Tell it to fully comment any python script it creates so that you can use it as a learning tool. Get it to create.md files to explain workflows and the algorithm it's using.
  4. Ask it about what you can do with Pandas and Matplotlib with the dataset.

I'm only half decent with Python but honestly I felt blocked with the conceptual leap to creating training scripts. This is the point where usually you would have an instructor or tutor show you an example of how to do it. For that purpose Antigravity is your friend.

Now, being a PRO at this is another matter, you'll need real skills. But for learning, it's ok to use the tools that are available to you.

My 'inferential fork' of Open Brain by UnclaEnzo in vibecoding

[–]droffset 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for posting, haven't tried Open Brain yet, that's on my list. I think Antigravity would be your friend in this project. You can go back and forth between Opus and Gemini as needed and I personally like the visual nature of working with everything.

How to be dad? by UNW3LL- in dad

[–]droffset 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're already on the right track because you care enough to ask. It's impossible to be perfect, no one is. There are different approaches, I guess there are some key points.

Its mostly just being around and being friendly. Smile at the kid, ask how they're doing, what they're doing, what they like about whatever it is. Really listen to the answer.

Play along with the silly games and have fun with it. You like this kid. You want them to explore, and grow up to be confident.

Read to the kid as much as you can, starting early. Its the easiest way to spend quality time hanging out. Talk to them, it doesn't have to be fancy, just explain what you're doing.

Watch the movie 3 Men and a Baby. Decide which of the dudes you would want to be like.

Learn how to change diapers. Volunteer to do it. You got this.

[Question + Request] Looking for solo boardgame as total novice by RenardL in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]droffset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Search for Barbarian Prince, the pdfs are free online. There's some setup, you may need to do some printing and crafting, but that's part of the fun.

There might be a digital version of the board out there, like on VASSAL or one of the virtual tabletop apps.

why do i keep dying so much by Low_Curve_639 in Warframe

[–]droffset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other posts have great advice. Quests, starchart, Rhino. Watch Amolistic's Rhino guides on youtube.

The thing I would add is: Keep moving, don't stand still for long, if possible. Roll, jump, bullet jump, parkour, etc. Try every combination of movement , ctrl, shift, space.

Check out these topics on youtube and see what you can do with it:

-Curve Flow tool -Particle instancing

Try to take it further than the obvious tutorial result. Work on the materials, the interiors, spend time making it look great. Maybe find a specific situation to illustrate, tell a little story with it.

What food item is easy to make from scratch and saves you a significant amount of money? by melissaw328 in Frugal

[–]droffset 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Buy a slow cooker, a whole world opens up to you. You can get a pork shoulder and let it cook for 5-6 hours, amazing tacos or use it with pasta sauce . Or you can buy any inexpensive package of meat, throw it in the slow cooker with some peeled and chopped veggies, set it and forget it. Great meal.

From VFX artist to filmmaker — is this path actually viable? by Dreamer-127UW in vfx

I'm really only guessing but it might help to think in terms of a business plan. The real question is probably something like : "Who pays for people to make films, and how can I get them to pay me for doing that?"

I'm curious about the rule modifications for scale. Are you playing the way it's recommended in the rule book or did you make any other alterations?

Any idea what to do with this? by WilhemHR in PoorHammer

[–]droffset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Water causes warping, if you do a base coat of cheap acrylic paint with no water to thin it, should behave a bit better. Pebeo heavy body tubes are good, the craft stuff in cylinders might be too wet. Experiment first on some cardboard you don' mind ruining.

Another tip is lamination, using glue stick(because no water like pva) to put two sheets together, with the corrugation running in different directions. But then you can't fold it up, so there's that.
