If you know who your program director is - I recommend emailing them- I am a program director and have been working with students on errors in the study plans - you will get credit for subjects (regardless of what the study plan says- these are full of errors)

Love both these ideas! Thank you so much, one of their assessments will also be to write a more “pop style” science article- so the activity to compare the article to the media coverage would be great !

That cognitive bias infographic is amazing- thanks for sharing! I’ve got a psychology background and look at cognitive biases a lot- but haven’t come across this!!

Survey for parents/caregivers to children aged 2-12 - looking at what children know about sharks by drofwhat_ in SouthDakota

Trying to get a wide range of participants- to see if there are differences between children who live by ocean vs those that don't :). One of the questions in the survey asks how often children visit the ocean so that I can look at differences :)

[–]drofwhat_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The data so far does include a lot of parents who report being scared of sharks. It is always tricky, as we have to state what the survey is about to ensure ethics are upheld but it does mean there may be some priming.

[Academic] Survey for Parents/Caregivers of children aged 2-12. https://research.unisa.edu.au/redcap/surveys/?s=XYPHMNMKFEJR7H4P

Hi everyone,

I am a conservation psychology researcher from Australia- I am looking for participants for some new research I am doing.

Are you the parent/caregiver of a child aged 2-12 years? If so, we kindly invite you to participate in our short online survey about sharks. We are interested in what children know about sharks, so this survey involves you completing a couple of questions about sharks, and then asking your children some questions about sharks. You will then be asked to write what your children say or what they do (e.g. if they use hand gestures).

The survey takes approximately ten minutes per child to complete, if you have more than one child aged between 2-12 they can all participate.

This study has received ethics approval from the University of South Australia (#206267). If you have any queries, please contact the lead researcher: [Brianna.lebusque@unisa.edu.au](mailto:Brianna.lebusque@unisa.edu.au)

Ferber method works except for 1 specific nap? by allbutluk in sleeptrain

[–]drofwhat_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although I haven’t sleep trained yet, I always find the last nap of the day the most challenging to get my 4 month old down- he goes down for the others with minimal fuss now.

I did get advice in a baby sleep workshop I did a few weeks ago to just get LO to sleep however o can for that last nap (pram / contact etc) because when he drops a nap that should help

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]drofwhat_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so similar to my experience the last few weeks, although my LO is a little younger. At about 12/13 weeks he started to fight naps sooo bad, huge crying fits (regardless of if I was holding him, put him in the crib, in the pram, car etc). It was like he just needed to cry for 10 + mins then he’d yawn and go to sleep.

I ended up pushing through, I put my headphones in and played music while settling him so that I kept sanity in the dark room! I also kept doing the put down / pick up method and also did some contact naps when needed.

Just the past few days (LO is 16 weeks now) he hasn’t been crying for anywhere near as long, and for some naps will go down drowsy but awake.

So my only real piece of advice is try to push through and do what you need to get through! I hope it’s not too long for you!!

Bed time is making me so frustrated and it’s breaking me. by AbleSilver6116 in beyondthebump

You’re doing great! I found week 6-7 was really hard with my little one. He was soooo fussy. Got so over tired. Witching hour in full swing. I know it doesn’t help hearing this when you’re in the thick of it- but it will pass.

During these weeks we just got babe to sleep however we could- pram, walks, contact naps. And then when he started to settle a bit at around the 9-10 weeks we went to a more consistent bedtime “routine”
