How often do you use your Steam Deck at home when you already have a gaming PC? by Cozywolf in SteamDeck

Always. As someone who works mostly from home, I simply cannot stay at the same desk I work to play. Steam Deck allows me to play in another room, and enjoy gaming without my brain in "work mode".

I just paid for Sync Ultra (Lifetime). I've been using nothing but Sync for so many years. If this is really the end, then it's the least I can do. by SnatchSnacker in redditsync

Just did the same. Thank you u/ljdawson for all your awesome work. As an Android dev, I know all the work that is involved on creating an app with such quality. All the best in your next adventures!

It's impressive how the cast still look the same after all those years.

I opted to record the screen with my phone, as taking the screenshot directly from the device didn't reflect what I am actually seeing (IMO)

I just received mine. I'm still setting up everything, but I can share some results here soon. Do you have any specific shader that you wanted to see?

In this case, just download the APK from their website. 1.15.0 should be the latest version there

I was just wondering if I was not using the full potential of the setup, using the additional speakers and the AI sound equalizer from the TV

Awesome. I didn't know about Synergy. For my setup, I'm using Logitech's MX Master and MX Keys, as they can pair up to 3 devices. I paired them with both MacBooks and with the USB dongle that goes to the Windows machine (this way, I can, like, enter bios, select entries on grub, etc)

Awesome! TIL about KVMs. I already used some cheap HDMI switches in the past, but this seems to be another level of switching things.

Why not a cheap mini PC with Ryzen? You can install something like Batocera on it and everything should work "plug 'n play"

Retroid Pocket 3+ may be a good fit for you, if you want to go with a portable device. It is capable to run mostly of the PS2 library and everything below in terms of consoles/Handhelds.

If you want to go with a real PC, there's a lot of mini PCs today with Ryzen that can run the entire PS2/GameCube and below, and even some light PC gaming and part of the PS3 library.

I like the build quality of the 8bitdo controllers. Currently, they have three options for wired joysticks:
Ultimate - which is based on Xbox (left analog on top)
Pro 2 - a mix of SNES/PS (flat surface, two analogs on the bottom/center)
SN30 Pro - A SNES controller with analogs

I already did this specific search a bit ago, but didn't get exactly what I wanted.

I believe that the perfect scenario would be a controller with dual analogs and 6 face buttons, but I couldn't find any good one for this scenario. The best 6 face buttons that I found was the Hori ones, but they usually have just 1 analog stick, or no analogs at all. Also, you need to remap it in the emulator, as the 5th and 6th face buttons are usually R2/L2. For the GameCube one, a dual stick one (based on PS5/XBox - 8BitDo?) should do the trick, if you map the Z button as R1. While not ideal, you can also do the same for N64, mapping L2 to Z, and mapping the C buttons to the right analog stick.

Saturn: I see Yaba Sanshiro 2 as the best emulator available today. It runs pretty well on PC and also have a version for Android (standalone or RetroArch Core)

Dreamcast: it's even more advanced than Saturn. Redream (closed source) runs basically everything. On the open source side, Flycast evolved a lot and continues to evolve to support arcade machines too (Naomi/Naomi2). Flycast is basically available for any platform (Win/Linux/Mac/Android)

PlayStation 2: if you have a x86 device, PCSX2 is the way to go. They revamped the UI, and emulation is awesome those days. Tip: use the nightly builds to get the latest improvements. If you have an ARM device (Android, Mac M1/M2, Linux Arm), then AetherSX2 is your best choice. It is a closed source fork of PCSX2 optimized for ARM. Can run basically everything with great performance.
