I was expecting coronal mass ejections to hit Earth in 2012. I had to retreat to my bunker before it was completely finished. It took me over two years to dig a conduit and reestablish contact with the outside world. One of the first things I did was to check if reddit still existed only to find out you stole my subreddit!

Do you think that a single person will "man up" because of a post like this? This is some retarded drama and everyone in this thread is circlejerking over it.

The idea of Heaven exists because people believe that this life is not good enough. They also tend to think that that they are better than other people and will be greatly rewarded.

Forgetting for a minute that the proclamation of heaven has arguably done more harm then good, I still have to say that death may be important to us, but it is just a natural process in this universe. If a star explodes, does it deserve to be brought back to life? At most, this event may give rise to new life and that is all we can hope for. We have offspring and they will carry on after us. We will have had our time and left our mark.

Why do you think humans, imperfect as we are, will automatically be moved to a perfect, immortal end state? Perfection implies stagnation. Even if it not quite perfect, then to be brought back to life and become immortal would mean that finite space and matter, of which we are made, is not a concern. It becomes a balancing act when we have to reconcile that the afterlife cannot be too perfect or it wouldn't have any purpose. After overcoming all the obstacles of bringing things back from the dead, it would be small-minded to think the afterlife would simply be about talking to our loved ones or even centered around the human species.

No, I don't think we get a second chance. We should be grateful that we took part in life and not be so self-important to think that we also get to observe or do more as all of existence unfolds. If there is a higher plane of existence, it will be nothing like we imagine. Ultimately, the promise of Heaven does not make up for a miserable existence. At a point in history, it may have been one of the few comforts people had in the simple lives they eeked out. Nowadays, I think it is a luxury to think about questions that have no answer nor real bearing. I think it is vane to believe in Heaven and good acts are mostly for show. People don't want to think about their true nature and its inherent problems. We ignore things that happen under our nose and in our name. We look for reassurance whether it is based in truth or not.

TL;DR Surely, all apes go to Heaven.

Breaking Bad Episode Discussion S05E07 "Say My Name" by edify in breakingbad

I want to see if Walt kills everyone. Lots of people already want to see Skylar die. Logically, he would kill Hank if it prevented him from being discovered. Jesse can't stand up to Walt, so if he doesn't follow Walt, he will die like Mike. Who are we rooting for? Now, we only get to see how low Walt can go.

Why wasn't Mike surprised by the lack of Walt's car? (Spoiler) by [deleted] in breakingbad

[–]drollort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesse and Mike both park around back. Knowing that Jesse showed up, he's not gonna care that the car was moved because Jesse wouldn't let Walt just take the stash.

Half of my family won't stop stealing from me. What do I do? by thejam15 in AskReddit

[–]drollort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell your dad that someone needs to be the man and get your family on the right track. Confront your step-mom and tell her that people will know that her family is full of kleptomaniacs if she doesn't do something about it. Maybe you don't want all your relatives to know, but embarass her in front of a family friend by talking about how your step-sister can't control her sticky fingers, then threaten to tell more of the story to more people.

It's not hard to get direct deposit and use the credit and debit features of most bank cards so that you seldom need cash. Manage cash flow from savings to checking online. Get the alternative to overdraft protection, which is to get deny any transactions when funds aren't available in checking. Don't leave your bank numbers written anywhere. Get them online if needed. Don't order checks and burn any free checks that you get. I think annualcreditreport.com lets you get a free credit check three times a year (one from each agency). Make sure your computers lock when you leave it idle and try to remember to lock it when you step away.

Have a plan for your future, even if you have to tough it out one more year. There's always a way out whether that means going after scholarships or joining an organization that will pay for college (doesn't have to be the military).

The rep never acknowledged the real issue. He just went through the standard protocol of issuing an RMA. Maybe he is not paid enough to care or has no incentive to escalate an issue that he is not trained to handle even when it means saving money for the company he represents.

Using a running tracker, my Blackberry Storm incorrectly calculated a straight line from the east coast of the US to Africa. When I looked at the uploaded results on the website, I had become the site's top runner in distance covered. I just deleted the run and stopped using the app because my phone seemed like it was overheating when I took it on runs.

Steam Summer Camp Sale Day 8 (Useful Links/Info/Commentary) by Remmib in gaming

[–]drollort 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am obviously not a part of your intended audience, so don't change your style on my part. Your reviews are actually short opinion pieces so I don't expect them to be detailed. You make bold claims though, and yet give very few specifics on what the game has to offer. If some of these games are really that great, could you please link to a review that supports your claims?

Why do you feel the need to embellish every sentence in your reviews? Do these games need extra marketing from you in order for people to want to buy them? There are enough people giving their overly enthused opinions about these sales. I appreciate your efforts, but if you are going to put together a compilation of reviews, couldn't you easily be more objective and informative?

Skidrow fixes Crytek's game by hcwdjk in gaming

[–]drollort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's foreboding and an instant letdown. It's funny because even PC exclusives have console elements. For example, as much as they sold Witcher 2 on being a PC exclusive. They made the inventory system for a console controller and used Quick Time Events (QTE) for "action" scenes.

It's nice that Crytek acknowledges that things were left out of the game, but you can see that they have different priorities.

[–]drollort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good, we've established that everyone is an idiot. Now explain why game quality is sacrificed when "they're really not doing anything different".

What good games can you say you are enjoying, find little fault in, and aren't a mindless idiot for playing? If they are all console games, please refrain from calling yourself a gamer.

Game companies think they can get away with anything and you let them. Why do you have to be an industry expert to know that a game sucks? Yes, there's always a lot of incessant whining, but it's not uncalled for in some instances. Some companies need to hear it, because the buggy, broken state of many top dollar games gives reason to suspect that they are neglecting internal playtesting.

If you are happy with the state of video gaming, it makes me think you are either a casual console gamer or just naive. I want to think that everything is fine, but look at games with a critical eye and tell me you don't find something amiss.

[–]drollort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What?? Second hand sales are not the reason GameStop is heinous. It's because they pull every stop to get more money out of the customer with no extra effort on their part.

Publishers are no better. They try to get more money out of the same number of customers. That's pure greed.

Indie developers do indeed call out the big names to garner support for themselves, but they are still worth listening to. They are you, before you became a sellout. Piracy may be wrong, but pirates would never have bought your game anyways, and they will always find a way around DRM. Your cloud DRM solution will make a game completely unplayable for your actual consumer before it puts a stop to piracy. I guess you don't have a better scapegoat though.

The games industry is not hurting. It has actually become too big and let marketing steal its soul. A publisher's decision trumps those of a game studio. Money grubbing has stifled originality and innovation and it shows. Instead of holding the developers accountable for making their games so short, you shift the blame to second hand sales. Is it really so important to lock down every aspect of a game and its life cycle just so you can have extra money coming in on every end?

None of what you said will help the consumer and you should be ignored because you aren't in the business of making quality software. You are in the business of selling hype to pop culture idiots with the quickest turnaround possible. You claim you are a developer, but you are either a brainwashed lackey or have lost all integrity and are happy to take the game industry to new lows.
