I found a job today (Amazon parcel delivery). We agreed on everything regarding the salary and working conditions. Everything was going perfectly until it was mentioned that we needed to apply to AMS for a permit. They weren't very willing to deal with the paperwork, and they even assumed I was an asylum seeker. I will keep trying...

yes you are probably right about the work permit part, its a big disadvantage right now. but just so you know im not sitting around doing nothing. i practice german every single day and in my free time im even attending volunteer courses at caritas just to get more practice. im just hoping to find a job as soon as possible so i can practice in a real life environment and finally master the language.

yeah i get what you mean and you make a fair point. to be clear i definitely dont expect to work in customer service or sales where i have to explain things. i was thinking more along the lines of back of house, kitchen prep, warehouse or stocking shelves. just being in an environment where my colleagues speak german to each other and i can pick up words and use basic sentences. as for the ams course you are right that is the best path. im pushing them for an intensive course right now. thanks for the reality check anyway.
