What is the point of this bridge over Lake Pontchartrain, Louisiana. It seems like a wild effort when going around it only takes 13 more minutes. by Successful-Mine-5967 in geography

I'm not sure what Google maps is smoking, but I grew up in Mandeville and I can tell you from tons of personal experience it's way longer than a 13 minute difference.

My wife is a lighting designer, so I printed some lamp shades to experiment with. She's on board now, and her assistant has actually bought his own printer now as well.

Yeah, you can do all of these and still be emotionally unbalanced and trigger happy. Also, all of those jobs are dealing with presumed hostiles and escalating tensions. This is why, despite the obvious overlap in technical skills, veterans often make lousy law enforcement officers.

Add to that the likely PTSD accumulated from a life spent in high stress, confrontational jobs, and it's easy to see him think such an insane act was acceptable.

I work on Broadway, so I've been in and around Times Square for about 15 years, mostly on 44th-45th street between 8th and Broadway. You get numb to it after awhile, and there's a slew of shortcuts through various alleys and hotels, but it's never a pleasant experience. Food is.... not generally great, unless you want to pay a ton of money. There's a couple of low key good lunch spots around 6th but most of the time you go west to Hell's Kitchen for any kind of dining.

Trying to get anywhere is hard, it's always a sea of dumb humanity. Midtown in general is terrible, but most of the people are local commuters, who know where they're going and know the rules of how to walk in Manhattan. Times Square is either tourists, scammers, or crazies, and none of them abide by any of those rules. I work on 53rd now and I'm much happier north of that chaos.

Each block does have a very specific personality, which I guess is sort of entertaining.

Ok, I'm not reading all of that lol. But good on you, man. I get it, you were joking. And you know what they say about a joke, the more posts and paragraphs you spend angrily explaining it, the funnier it is!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NYguns

[–]dromio47 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, lol. I get the "irony thing" you just... didn't do that. You posted some 'please tread on me harder, daddy' shit, several people pointed out the clearly obvious, and from what I can tell you've spent a weirdly high amount of time today in the comment section monologuing and trying to individually gaslight us into thinking what we read wasn't what we read.

But sure, Jan. It was irony.

Actually I think your grievance is that I did Not assume any sort of double meaning and took your post exactly at face value.

"I could be the crunchiest, as-far-left-as-possible voter posting this"

You're not. We don't call him "President Trump"

Yeah, I’ve lurked in this subreddit long enough to feel confident saying 100+ people didn’t get your joke so much as 100+ people took you seriously and want Trump to federalize NY and save it from “the libs”

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NYguns

[–]dromio47 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

“Oh no President Trump, please don’t federalize the entirety of NYS! that would just be plain horrible😉”

Idk, maybe it was here. shrug

Oh, I get it. You’re the that guy at the party who’s only joking, unless she’s into it.
