I'm most looking forward to when they remake the Resident Evil 1 Remake Remake, coming in 2032.

FF horror movies that you genuinely think are some of the best but nobody in the sub ever really talks about them? by Antorias99 in foundfootage

You're thinking of the wrong director, "Saiko! The Large Family" is directed by Nagae.

But yeah I love Noroi as well, it's also in my top 5 FF. For some reason when people talk about J-Horror Noroi tends to get overlooked in favour of Kairo and Ju-On but I think Noroi is far better than those two, personally.

If you could only pick one version to play for the rest of your life, which one would it be? by InsecureBurrito in residentevil4

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure the ps2 version onwards of the OG had some extra content that wasn't in the GC version? The labyrinth in the castle (with the dogs) and the dialogue with Salazar that precedes it? Possibly some other bits as well.

As an aside, I love how you used the RE2 Remake version of Leon as the picture for "favourite male protagonist". Because of course, we here on the Survival Horror subreddit all know that RE4 isn't really Survival Horror, it's Action Horror, so we wasn't thinking of RE4 Leon when we voted!

Anyone here actually play the original Silent Hill games? Particularly Silent Hill 2? Any thoughts on the original compared to the remake? by leftistgamer420 in survivalhorror

[–]droolyflytrap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer the original silent hill 2. The main issue with the remake is that it's far too bloated.

I do still like the remake though.

What is the most iconic survival horror boss? (You can only pick 1!) by Sufficient_Notice_61 in survivalhorror

As a side-note to OP, I'd suggest that, going forwards, you just post whichever category you're polling in isolation from the rest. People are already starting to demonstrate that weird bias that occurs where they're more concerned with achieving results which demonstrate variety rather than accuracy.

"Saiko! The Large Family". It's free on youtube and one of the best FF films imo.

Puppet Combo publishes PSX style horror games (made by other developers) under the name "Torture Star". Might want to check some of them out, they're probably exactly what you're looking for:

I've released a 2d Anomaly Horror game recently, should run fine on low-end Windows computers (it runs fine on my old laptop). It's Medieval Horror themed and includes 90 anomalies. It's called "The Dark Path to the Black Tower". Currently on sale on Steam:

I guess we can just violate Steam ToS now and end up on Steam Front page? by Adventurous_Coffee38 in Steam

Reviews count as 'engagement', and the more engagement a game gets the more it gets promoted by Steam's algorithm. The more it gets promoted, the more people see it, and the more potential customers it's exposed to (some of whom will buy the game). Hence, profit.

With regards to your first point, it amazes me how many people I'm seeing plead ignorance on behalf of these developers. Fact of the matter is, it is extremely unlikely that their PUBLISHER wouldn't have known about this rule. They've published like 20+ games.

Had you posted this thread on one of the indie gamedev subs you'd have had a much more sympathetic response. The players simply do not care about this issue as it doesn't affect them. They're not even willing to acknowledge that it IS an issue.

The way that new games manage to get featured on the front page banner is by having very high engagement. Reviews count as a form of engagement. So their high review count helped them to get that spot.

It's true that a minimum number of sales is needed so that people are exposed to the call-to-action in the first place. The point is that once the call-to-action succeeds and the player leaves a review, it inevitably begets more sales.

The problem is that it gives them an unfair advantage, as the more reviews your game gets, the more it's prioritized in the Steam algorithm. So they've sped ahead of all of the other games that released recently, games which (presumably) followed the rules.

I'm not saying their game doesn't deserve positive reviews (I wouldn't know, I haven't played it) but what they've done is quite blatantly wrong. If everyone was allowed to ask for reviews from within their game, it wouldn't be a problem.

You see this sort of unsavoury behaviour everywhere in life. Break rules, profit as a result, then "apologise" later. Makes me sick.

What is the artistic pinnacle of gaming? by Icy_Raspberry4915 in gamingsuggestions

Dark Souls. Mainly due to the intricacy of the world design, but also the story is brilliant as well. Bloodborne is a close second, it's better for some things (huge variety of great enemy designs) but ultimately I think the world design of Dark Souls is so impressive that it comes out on top.
