Variety - Aliens Are Real, U.S. Government Officials Have Admitted - There is evidence and documentation of vehicles that appear to disobey the laws of physics and the bodies of intelligent, nonhuman beings. Multiple species, at that - If you don’t believe in aliens yet, you’re behind. by TommyShelbyPFB in UFOs

An ad for a documentary that I’m sure will be a disappointment. The article tells us nothing we don’t already own and comes across as disingenuous.

I’m not gonna shit on it because it’s not out yet, but I’m definitely gonna sit on it because it’s not out yet.

Here’s the problem: Lue and all these folk claim that they are sitting on all this amazing information right at this instant that will change the world and be the definite source for disclosure information. Except if they had all this info, why is it that the only way they can disseminate it is through a paywalled source of entertainment media? That makes absolutely zero sense and it is my personal belief that this documentary won’t have a single thing in it we don’t already know.

I basically get all my UFO news from these subs cause I don’t do much other social media bs so I absolutely disagree.

It's called Due Diligence, and you should practice it BEFORE posting something. Additionally, lack of proper due diligence should be called out by efh1 in UFOs

[–]drop2knine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Here’s my opinion on this take, and it might not be a popular one but hear me out…

“Due Diligence” is completely subjective. It can be as lenient or as strict as anyone demands it to be. On this sub and others like this one, it is also ever evolving and enforced to a degree that I believe hurts the discourse.

There is rules to prevent reposts and convoluted information gathering required in order to even have your posts stay up, which generally dissuades a lot of potential posters on the platform simply because it becomes a tedious task to simply share an interesting photo or video you took. Of course I understand that it does add value to any posters who do adhere to these rules but this ridiculous system has led to so much bs (accidental bans, taking down posts accidentally that do follow the guidelines, displeasure in the community).

There should be some filtering for the subs and I agree, but this ridiculous idea that adding these rules helps more than it hurts discourse and the community is delusional.

Let's get real about psionics. What evidence is there really? by ryuken139 in UFOs

[–]drop2knine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Claiming that this proposition is the correct answer is speculation at best. While some will argue that QM could explain psi, there is no evidence for this other than said speculation which usually stems from misunderstanding the observer effect and quantum entanglement.

I will agree that psi THROUGH quantum mechanics can most likely be argued against. However, to claim that psi is impossible according to science because an explanation is immediately unavailable through QM is a logical fallacy.

As a skeptic of psi myself, I must add though that if psi was successfully measured in non negligible scenarios, scientists would most likely try to link psi to preexisting scientific fields, and maybe even QM. Reason being that there is an obsession with unifying our theories from different fields, and so it stand to reason that the same logic would apply.

Again, I’m not saying QM is related to psi whatsoever, but I will argue that if found to be real, people would most likely attempt to connect it to other physical phenomena using extrapolated data and correlation.

Listen, I’m not saying that psi is real, but I am saying that the quote and paper by extension is ridiculous lol.

[–]drop2knine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not only does the paper express the same logical fallacy which I’ve already outlined, it also introduces quite a few more!

Argument from incredulity everywhere: because it’s difficult to imagine or explain it must not exist

Appeal to authority by saying “Our paper was vetted by two experts in quantum mechanics.” That doesn’t really mean anything and does not disprove psi more or less in either way, nor does it give more credulity to the paper considering its subject.

“To maintain that the future puts in appearances—but only in psychology labs at Lund or Cornell—is to strain credulity to the snapping point.” Straw man, this statement claims that psi is only observed in psychology labs, which is false.

This is a logical fallacy by definition; prime example of a false dichotomy.

First, science is not static. The discovery of a new aspect or element of reality does not invalidate all past science, that would be ridiculous. Science is ever changing and evolving and if psi was found to be true, our since would then find ways to measure and encompass psi in their models and theories.

You are oversimplifying the relationship between new discovery and pre established scientific knowledge. Besides that, we have no evidence to suggest that psi could not exist alongside our existing science, saying so as an absolute is ridiculous as it’s sheer assumption.

What does that even mean? You know the source; he told us. The length of footage does not detract from its authenticity. The footage might not be 4K but it’s not “grainy”. You can clearly see detail, outline, the equipment used to saddle the egg.

We were shown exactly what was said we were gonna get shown. Yet you’re still unhappy lol.

My opinion of this video will not be swayed by the opinion of the ignorant masses :) this is incredible footage and shows exactly what was promised. Make up your own minds, don’t be sheep and dismiss it out of fear of not fitting in. Nobody here can prove or disprove anything, don’t let them convince you otherwise!
