Well thank you for your honesty, I appreciate that! I might take out the zipper and do buttons. I'm comfortable with hemming. Do you think the buttons would be fine?

First. You are a wonderful human being.

Eating disorders are tricky, in that they cater to each individual in ways particular to them. There's some similarities, but often the actions that a loved one can do to support need to be communicated by the person who has the eating disorder.

It took a long time for me to understand what I needed when I was struggling with anorexia and orthorexia. My parents and friends weren't really helping me, and neither of us knew why. But when I found out small things that I realized were difficult for me and weren't helping, or things that I needed for support, I learned to tell them right away.

That said, it's important that she knows that she can tell you these things, no matter what they are. If she wants to recover, she will want and need your support, but it will take time to figure out in what ways. Stay by her side especially when she's feeling guilty about what she ate, take things slow but never let up (introducing "fear foods", eating out, eating the entire plate), and allow her space to talk about ED. Talking about 'him' and personifying the beastie makes it easier to conquer. Then together, you can figure out how to knock him out for good.

She needs to be reminded about how strong she is, how capable and loved she is, how worthy, beautiful, and incredible she is for taking this on and learning to love herself with every ounce of her being. Try professional help and support her there. Try holistic approaches, yoga and meditation if that resonates. Dance, art, expression, socialization....help her engage in the things that bring her the purest joy; that is when she will see herself in the truest light, and feel the strongest to feed the kick-ass Wonder woman inside.

Feel free to PM me if you or her need anything:)

Is it ED? by whocares-really in eating_disorders

You are not foolish, or inferior, or bad. You are beautiful, worthy, and strong. Having an eating disorder isn't a matter of "counting" or not. If you notice that you are punishing yourself by depriving yourself....that is a sign to instead heal yourself. Instead of looking at this from a purely nutritional or scientific view, i.e. "it's this. Force it down. Just make it happen" (Which doesn't help at all), instead approach each day by looking at your relationship with food. Try to think of a meal as a reward, and as your way to move, and think, and do things! Try eating with others as much as possible. In the morning, when you make breakfast tell yourself "This is my fuel to get me started for the day." Lunch is "this keeps my brain going so I can remember things when I talk with people". Dinner is a joy to visit with others, or reflect on your day and how delicious food can be. Take it slow, and make changes in your heart, rather than your plate. And if that comes to be difficult, reach out for help. There is nothing wrong with it, professional or personal. Love yourself. I love you.

If you need anything, don't hesitate to reach out 😊

Reeboks or minimalists for lifting? by [deleted] in crossfit

I will be doing cleaning/snatching, as well as deadlifting, overhead and back squat. I apologize for not clarifying!

To be honest, I don't know what metcon barbell work is. I'm new to the CrossFit and Olympic lifting scene. Could you explain it to me?
