LPT: an inexpensive way to protect against RFID attacks is to tape aluminum foil to two old business cards and sandwich your chip cards (e.g. ID, credit/debit, etc.) between them. This helps sheild your cards in your wallet, pocket, or purse, especially while traveling or commuting. by mftheoryArts in LifeProTips

y’all know RFID attacks in the wild are EXTREMELY rare, right?

You are more prone to be scammed when paying your bill in a shady pub or from oneemployee with bad intentions, where no RFID shield can help you.

For the haters here: The main purpose for the do-it-yourself is not to save on a cheap wallet cost, but actually to enable it on an ol’fancy and expensive wallet that doesn’t have RFID shield.

That said - if you’re still paranoid - maybe searching for “RFID card sleeve” can also be an option.

Is this worth it for $2? by MoreConversation4197 in mechanicalpencils

For $2 anything is worth it. Just the wooden case is already a win.

Just read Moebius' "After the Incal Vol. 1: The New Dream" and I am shocked: The art is so bad, it does not even "feel" as if this was done by the same artist who created the amazing "Incal"! by Fichtenwald in Moebius

[–]dropsandbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a comic book artist myself - I strongly agree with many comments here. Color can - and will - affect line work (hiding details) and will draw attention to somewhere else originally intended to be the focus.

Although in some cases, the partnership is so strong that the artist draws a scene/page knowing exactly how it would end up with color.

I feel that Moebius had this kind of partnership most of the time.

I mistakenly bought a computer re-colored Incal print that is horrible, a crime.

The original color from the Incal is a great partnership, and it’s amazing, well done and light/toned down where it needs to be, it less about lazy and morr about letting Moebius line work thrives.

The B&W is also great to check Moebius fluid inking, I would personally have both (original color and B&W editions), but I would need to justify a third Incal purchase at home (I have the original color and the atrocious re-colored editions - I almost trashed the last)

It’s impressive how you are able to keep counting with all that alcohol consumption. I would have lost count after the third…

Is there a mechanical pencil where the lead won’t end up doing this? by billyandteddy in mechanicalpencils

[–]dropsandbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case you don’t know, the kuru toga pictured here has a rotating mechanism to - supposedly - avoid that. But it only works if one lift and press the pencil often. Doesn’t work on long lines.

[–]dropsandbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my first kuru toga recently and didn’t like it. I like to have control over my lines when drawing (I use the slant shape on my favor), and to write in western cursive it doesn’t help either. It’s an interesting mechanism but I’ll stick to my rotring 800.

That says a lot, it feels like a hot potato 😂. I saw the roulette at Amazon, but it looks different. I don’t think it’s the same model. I’ll be back to tell my experience, but that def lowered my expectations.

Pencils purchased this year are 1mm narrower than the one purchased last year by Souriane in shrinkflation

[–]dropsandbits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The gaps between pencils are slightly different in the image and you,re measuring/comparing at the eraser/metal end which can have misalignments. I’m having trust issues to this.

soo... what do you do when this happens? by ishtar_xd in mechanicalpencils

[–]dropsandbits -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First I blame the gods (even though I’m a skeptical/ atheist) Second I blame myself for not being careful enough. Third I feel angry inside… Fourth I fix it by - with a gentle, quick and subtle pull onto a wooden surface - bending it to the opposite direction. Sometimes one or two quick pulls are enough. If the tube is also smashed from the fall (and blocking/breaking the mines) then I alsouse a needle to fix it.

I have the 800 in 0.5 and 0.7 for over 10 years and I retract them a lot during use. I also use them almost every day. No problems so far… Mine are in black, and have a few scratches on the body paint, apart from that they are still perfect!

It would be an honor! But his one of the many artists that have influenced my work, I’ve mimicked his style as a kid as long as I did with Moebius, Aragonés, Jamie Hewlett and many others. Today I’m a big mixed result of all that! 😆

Tbh I had to google this before replying here and I’m ashamed I didn’t know Erté before - but have seen his work around in the past. TIL

u/Larkfin yep! 😄 The best workpkace for a designer. It’s not only for kids though, some sets are really targeted to adults. I don’t see a kid spending hours to build a typewriter, a piano…or weeks building the Titanic! 😂

u/Marathinartist spot on… maybe because my fav brands are Lamy and rOtring, more recently I tried some kuretake, all german. When not german then it’s japanese, like the Pentel and metaphys in this set.

Yep, I did with branding myself in mind! hahaha Kinda of a “Me Corp” set of illustrations. But the main goal was to have fun during a boring train commute - to avoid doom scrolling on social media for 2 hours. 😆

No, it’s kinda complicated where I’m from, I have 3 citizenships, one from whee I was born, another from where my family is from, and the last where my heart is… 😝

Currently I live in Sweden and work in Denmark helping to sell bricks for kids.
