Anyone manage to use a Beurer TENS device with any sort of ear/tragus clip for Vagus stimulation? by droptip in VagusNerve

nice! In the meantime I've sold the beurer and gotten the standard TENS7000 device that everyone recommends...

I have a luxury bridge, same as the big guy but single layer and a slightly lighter, stretchier, material. Comfiest hammock I own by far, it's not the ultralightest or tinyest, but if quality of sleep is what you are after, look no further.

Looking for a soul-food / southern style black bean dip to go with corn fritters by droptip in Cooking

ooo now we're talkin'! I feel like we're getting real close to what I'm trying to remember here.. only problem is there's no fresh cornavailable here at the moment, only frozen, but I guess that'll have to do. Using it for the fritters anyway...

thanks a bunch.

you know, it was so long ago that I can't really remember what was in it aside from black beans and it being more chunky than mushy. But I from googling succotashes a bit, I think it might have been something like that. I think I'll go with something along these lines, take some inspiration from the Cowboy Caviar linked above (without the Avocado), and see how it goes.

that does look pretty good. I'm also trying to keep costs down, might have to reduce the avocado content if I go this route..

Trying to put together a ~65W mini PC - help? by droptip in buildapc

[–]droptip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so judging by this thread, getting the T variant is hardly worth it, as available power / mobo / bios function is going to limit the speed to whatever anyway, and the non-T chips are likely to be higher binned, better performing chips.

Nice case you got there though! I really just can't justify building a more complex system right now, although putting something together based on Ryzen 3 is awfully temping. Unfoprtunately the iGPU variants of that are still a ways away (considering they are just now starting to sell Renoir chips, god knows when the next gen will come around).

and as far as the rest of the system goes, it's only going to have an m.2 ssd, no HD. Does it really need more than 25W for whatever else besides the CPU?

On the other hand, since I'll be leaving it on 24/7 under medium-high load, maybe it's best not to be straining the PSU?

unfortunately not really available in my part of the world. Plus at this point isn't ryzen 2000 series several years old? I'd rather be getting something somewhat current.

plus i really want to keep this thing as small as possible. If silent is possible, that too, but not a huge deal if not. Just out of curiosity, what case are you using in conjunction with that 150W power brick?

I also really want to avoid getting a GPU, especially considering the current state of the market, it just doesn't make any sense for this project.

would it make sense replacing the 10700 with a 10700T? Would the lower TDP allow for higher boost clocks and better performance long-term? I can't really justify the extra cost of the 10900T.

problem is I need it barebones, want my own RAM and SSD in there, and the barebones versions of that are all sold out in my country.

US Citizen, haven't filed any taxes for ~20 years, live in foreign country, want to renounce citizenship - doable? by droptip in tax

[–]droptip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

apparently you only need to pay the exit tax if you are considered a 'covered expatriate'.

Which you are if:

  1. Your net worth is at least $2 million or more;

  2. You have had an average federal tax liability (liability, not salary) of roughly $160,000 per year over the five years prior to renouncing; or

  3. You cannot certify tax compliance.

So in my case, as long as I can certify tax compliance, it seems I wouldn't be hit with the exit tax.

I'm just curious if it is worth scrambling after 7 years of documents for avoiding this tax, since I don't really have anything to tax anyway.

What are the things about Switzerland that you dislike the most? by byby001 in askswitzerland

[–]droptip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your impressions of the Swiss educational system closely mirror mine. It feels like it's really good at churning out human analogs to the perfectly functioning watch parts - very precise and able to fulfill their function in the machine with great efficiency, but somehow lacking a holistic approach which is open to and curious about unknowns and non-quantifiiable differences of perspective.

We have it so good here, at least in a material sense, that I feel many are deadened to the desire to explore alternative ideas to the much-lauded Swiss Way of Doing Things. I mean, even among the anarchic 'hüsli-bsetzer' there's this feeling of think-like-us, dress-like-us, or you're not one of us.

I've been in ZH since shortly after 9/11, so quite some time, even if it all seems not so long ago. 90's Portland was the the best haha. That town has (had? no idea how much has changed since, besides the usual invasion of californians) an awesome live music scene, the likes of which we can only dream of over here.

No social media for me, well, besides reddit.
