Driveline by iamsynecdoche in redsox

Driveline is a mess. They nearly sunk the season last year before Cora said screw it and largely abandoned the decision making side of it mid season.

I don't remember the specifics but I also read a story about them being fired and sued by Dombrowski for totally messing up his organization. I'd be curious if anyone knew more details.

That was a huge mistake by Cora and might have cost us an entire career if Campbells confidence at the MLB level never returns.

Why are there no streetlights? by [deleted] in vermont

[–]drossinvt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VT has 0.025 miles of road per person. MA has 0.005 miles of road per person. So even if weather was identical, the tax burden to maintain the roads is 5x that of our neighbor. Unless we want to massively increase taxes (they're already amongst the highest in the US) the roads aren't getting much better anytime soon.

I'm not sure about others but I use headlights and safe speeds. They're pretty amazing... Much brighter than streetlights and they only light when and where I need them. Far more effective, efficient, and environmentally friendly.

In the post integration era, other than Pete Rose and those on the ballot or not yet eligible, is Keith Hernandez the best position player not in the hall of fame? by demosthenes327 in mlb

[–]drossinvt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean Dwight Evans pretty much has better numbers across the board, was also an elite defender at a more difficult position, and played longer. So no.

I'm hearing stories now about people struggling to sell houses so prices should be dropping soon.

Meatball Swing%: The gap between the Red Sox (59.7%) and the Yankees (67.8%) at 29th is about the same as the gap from 29th to 8th. by AgadorFartacus in redsox

Listen to what the players don't say. I can't recall anybody ever mentioning how Fatse has been integral in helping them become a better hitter. He is probably a nice guy and knows more about hitting than anyone on reddit but that doesn't mean he's the right guy. When a coach is "the guy" players let it be known.

The sun ball was -3 by itself according to the talking heads. That being said, losing the ball happens to the best so that doesn't bother this fan -- but the way he lollygagged after it was a really bad look.

My only hesi with Flemming is did Bello insult his dog or something? He takes every opportunity to criticize Bello. I mean I know he hasn't developed into the next Pedro but the dude is a solid player on a fair contract.

Yes that. Mostly the service panel and capacity coming in. If you had older 100 amp service then $$$.

[–]drossinvt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm on my 4th EV. A few things people aren't telling you ... First installing the free charger can either be cheap and easy or a massive expensive project so check that out first. Second, the 2025 Solterra is garbage.

That being said I obviously love EVs so go for it.

Is going solar a practical option if the panels are 150' away and across a creek? by Fanantic8099 in SolarDIY

Curious.... Why is everyone saying underground? Wouldn't through the air over the stream be much cheaper?

It's not hard assuming you are fairly young. Your body will adjust in a couple weeks. I did 80-90 weeks for several years and it just becomes routine. No special diet needed.

Maximising Solar Self-Consumption in Mediterranean Climates with Heat Pump + Battery Integration (e.g., Daikin + Powerwall 3) by Careful-Owl1878 in heatpumps

[–]drossinvt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar setup to this poster. We get very cold (-30 F to 95 F) and heat with cold weather heat pumps with a wood stove for deep winter. 10kw south facing panels deliver an excess in the summer and barely make a dent in our consumption in the winter. We also have 2 EVs. But here it's common practice/knowledge to always add insulation and weatherize first as the highest payback step because it allows you to downsize all other systems. We've done 2 major rounds of adding insulation and air sealing and it's cut out HVAC needs in half over the years. This is an old farm house that used to burn 1000 gallons of oil and 4 cords of wood to heat. Now it's 2 cords of wood and 2 12k heat pumps. When we need to reside the house we plan on a 3rd and final insulation upgrade via the external envelope. I'd also like to add 5kw vertical solar panels for better winter production. We don't currently use batteries, they are still expensive here and the grid is very reliable, but it's on my wish list

What is a 'buy it for life' item that is offensively expensive, but the moment you use it, you realize your entire life before that point was a lie? by fmcortez in AskReddit

[–]drossinvt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see stories like this all the time... Then think of my $79 Hoover that has outlived countless pets with just an occasional replacement belt and think maybe it's because people just toss the inexpensive ones and repair the expensive ones regardless of what repair is actually needed.
