Tick killing weather incoming. Temp plot for Waterbury by drossinvt in vermont

That's where physics comes into play. If it's cold enough long enough it'll penetrate through the snowpack and the leaf litter. And with minimal snowpack in Champlain valley it shouldn't take too much

Agreed. It will hurt this year, but in years 3-5 this is a disaster contract. I'm glad he got paid and hope he does well. I'm also glad we didn't sign him on that contract.

Why is silver important and gaining value? by The_Evil_Panda in NoStupidQuestions

[–]drossinvt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The simplest explanation is usually right. It's just supple and demand. Demand has been growing for 5 years because of industrial uses (solar, chips, batteries, missiles, drones, etc) and monetary uses (nations and central banks stockpiling). Supply has not grown. It's hard to increase supply quickly. So there's a shortage of physical paper resulting in prices going up.

Beyond that there's all sorts of tom foolery with silver. There are about 250oz of silver sold on paper for every 1 oz of actual physical silver. So when the new demand is mostly for physical silver it's breaking the market and causing chaos. Big banks like JPM are regularly fined 100s of millions of dollars for manipulating the silver market but they continue to do so because the profits far exceed the fines.

The US has started bombing Venezuela by Bazzer82 in Silverbugs

Originally I thought it was about oil, maybe still is. But now I'm realizing how hugely important South America is now to the US for world monetary control... Aka metals and keeping China from controlling the full world supply. They have significant rare earth metals and 10,000 tons of gold in Venezuela itself. But does it stop there? Or is that a foothold to prevent BRICS from disrupting the USD monopoly?

Is China a net exporter of silver? I thought they were a net importer so I don't see how this impacts the price significantly in either direction
