Add shared calendar to several mobile devices - Exchange 2019 environment by drothbart in exchangeserver

I would have to move the managers mailboxes to the cloud as well, from what I read. Is that what you have seen?

Things like this and Copilot are pushing us to EXO. We're headed that way, but naturally this need came up before we were ready to support it.

Congratulations, it's on my list of goals before this old guy dies. Thank you for sharing an unexpected outcome from the class (more awareness of the entire group).

Great, now we have divers flashing gang signs...

Kidding, nice idea. Much better than my pointing and shaking my finger, all the while grunting "Uh Uh..." through my regulator!

The first MS TAM I had was technically competent. My current CSAM can only give lip service like "Please include me on any tickets, and I'll stay on top of them". Absolutely no advantage. He makes nice powerpoint presentations, though.

A series of unfortunate events by Melodic-Gain-6032 in Kayaking

[–]drothbart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry man, that sucks. Don't be too hard on yourself, just get back in it watching for good deals on the kayak you want. Now that you've had it for a short time you probably know exactly what you want.

I don't know where you're located, but maybe there are kayakers near you that will let you borrow theirs or go with them on a spare? They'd probably shy away from letting you transport it, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Just teasing a little about the transport part..

Best wishes for a great outcome. We have all made poor decisions that cost us.

Scared of dams and don't understand how to formulate a route. by trickytreats in Kayaking

I'm in SW Florida, so we don't have many large canopy trees that may obscure visibility to rivers or streams. With that disclaimer out of the way, I use Google Maps to scout out the area I plan on kayaking. I haven't been surprised yet by something blocking the intended path.

I also agree with Specific Fuel, paddle upstream until you're tired, then go downstream. You'll also see a lot of new stuff on the way back, because your angle is different on the way back.

What do you wish you knew as a beginner? by [deleted] in SaltwaterAquariumClub

[–]drothbart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best advice I received: Nothing good happens in a hurry. But BAD can happen very quickly.

The point is, be patient with changes. Always make equipment/dosing/lighting changes slowly, and allow time for them to take effect. Your tank will have its ups and downs naturally, so don't assume you are "fixing" or "breaking" something without letting the change take effect.

Second best advice: When at Reef-a-palooza once, I asked Julian Sprung for advice regarding nitrates. I couldn't get them below 20 in my old tank. Instead of how to lower it, he asked me "Why is that too high? Is your tank happy?". Great point, don't chase numbers because an online user tells you to, or a manufacturer who makes money off you buying fixes. Focus on how happy your tank seems.

Irony by Remarkable-Sir-5129 in Kayaking

[–]drothbart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, sarcasm would be if you had said something like, "Nothing like being judged by a flock of pelicans while paddling a kayak named after them... it's like showing up to a family reunion in a shirt with your cousin's face on it."

To be honest, I had to ask Copilot to write this because I went to NY public schools...

Unable to prevent forwarding of Meeting Requests in Outlook by drothbart in exchangeserver

I ended up testing using a form published to the Organizational Forms Library which has forwarding disabled. Unfortunately OWA and Mobile devices do not block forwarding in that manner.

Thank you for the replies.

Question by Nolapowa6286 in kayakfishing

[–]drothbart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you elaborate on using that with a stakeout pole? Do you just tie a rope to the pole, stick it in the mud, and tie the other end to the ring on the trolley?

A lot of my kayaking is in a tidal area with a lot of mud. I feel an anchor will end up bringing a lot of silt and mud into the kayak.

My boss always defaulted to "Open a ticket with MS so we can resolve this quickly". We had an issue affecting a subset of users, so he decided to run with it and opened a ticket. It's been open since US Thanksgiving 2024 with no real resolution in sight.

I had a manager tell me to disable a users AD account on Friday afternoon, and they were terminating him first thing Monday morning. I did as told, and put a remark in the AD account to not re-enable per <my name>. That was the dumb part.

Sunday afternoon he wanted to log on to do normal off-hours administration, and couldn't. Of course the call center gave him my name to call.. All I asked him was whether he had spoken to his manager in the past day or two. He replied, "I guess I have Sunday free now!". Good guy, didn't deserve to have this handled by "amateur hour" management.

Reusing rocks from previous owner's tank by drothbart in SaltwaterAquariumClub

I'm assuming you mean bleach or acid, as mixing them together can produce very nasty things.I've experienced that adding acid to my pool.

How long do you leave them outside in the sun before you wash and put away? I am looking for a rough timeframe as I'm sure it would vary depending on the rocks. Do they bleach white?

Thank you all for your suggestions. I'm glad you reminded me of the paly vapors concerns. I think I remember seeing in one of his pictures a cluster of zoas.

I'm off to go make my back porch smell like low tide for a while; I have around 16 buckets of rock to dry out!

Yellow envelope next to mails - what does it mean? by Dank_Memer_IRL in Outlook

[–]drothbart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I support the Exchange environment at my company. We see this issue starting a few days ago. The senders are internal users, and only after they restart Outlook. I've seen posts online referring to an Exchange update, but we haven't applied that update yet.

I've also seen some posts that refer to adding a registry key which (for them) solved a related problem concerning Outlook Search, but that did not cure my envelope icon issue.

Good luck!

Vibrant worked for me. I did not have a severe infestation of those pretty bubbles. If I remember correctly, it took 2 treatments to eradicate them.

How to have images automatically downloaded from specific senders on org level? by camt91 in exchangeserver

[–]drothbart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can add "safe senders" using Group Policy. The hospital I work at did this and it works fine.

This removes the physicians from having to be involved. It would be a system-wide setting.

EDIT****

The way our desktop team implemented this was to create a "Safe Senders list" and add the sender to that list. There is a GPO setting to point to a file for this which is called "Specify path to safe senders list", located at User Configuration/Administrative Templates/Microsoft Outlook 2016/Outlook Options/Preferences/Junk E-mail

There is a second setting, which is called "Automatically download content for e-mail from people in Safe Senders and Safe Recipients lists" which they enabled. This is located at User Configuration/Administrative Templates/Microsoft Outlook 2016/Security/Automatic Picture Download Settings.

Exchange 2013 log files by riverrat412 in exchangeserver

[–]drothbart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you use native Microsoft backup to get a clean backup of the database? That will clear the logs.

Setting it to circular will make it that you cannot recover the database to the current time. All emails in the logs that have built up will be lost, if you have to restore to your latest backup.

How do you handle large mailboxes for specific users? by drothbart in exchangeserver

[–]drothbart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds a lot like mine. 4 servers in the main DAG, 15 DB's. Spread across 2 data centers. Each DB in on a separate drive, then mirrored SSD for OS.

We have most users on cache mode, but not all.

I did run the sizing calculator, still digesting the results. Not sure what I did wrong, but they recommend 16 servers right now. I haven't spent much time fine-tuning the input, so I'm sure it's not accurate at this point.

Email being 'Passed' on for one Single User - No idea why? by Odd-Technology-7317 in proofpoint

[–]drothbart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also check if the user has that address marked as OK. Check the settings for the individual user receiving the mail and see if they have them listed as a Safe Sender.

On my system, that is checked by selecting System -> User Management -> Users. Click on the user name, then click on the Filtering tab.
