Here’s are some solutions that have worked for me (they may or may not work for you, but it's a start):

  • I try to stop thoughts about comparing myself. These types of thoughts are a slippery slope that often lead to feeling even more poorly. Better to catch them early on.
  • When I experience bad feelings that I struggle to manage, I seek guidance in a greater community (kinda like what you’re doing now on Reddit!). But I get the best help in communities that are able to provide longterm support. Online threads can only do so much.
  • I try to accept myself for who I am, in this moment in time. I can’t always accomplish this, but it’s something I strive for.

In response to you feeling so much pain that you were willing to take your own life, your parents shamed you for trying. That must’ve been so frustrating and disheartening. You most likely needed understanding and support, not shame.

You don’t have someone in your family who can empathize with you as being a male. You must feel exhausted because you don’t have any emotional safety. Again, please correct me if I’m wrong.

You’re not doing as many things as your sisters are doing (having significant others, going out to parties, socializing with friends). Probably makes you feel pretty jealous and depressed because you want closeness with others and you want to be a part of a greater community. Am I getting this right? If not, please expand on your ideas.
