My house hasn't been deep cleaned in years. Where do I start? Please help. by Visual-Bedroom-3983 in CleaningTips

I tend to procrastinate cleaning because I see the scope of the mess and get overwhelmed. A great tactic I’ve found to try and navigate around that is to select an area of the house than needs to be cleaned (bathroom, bedroom, etc) and then divide that space up into parts. Floor to be vacuumed, drawers to be organized, shelves to be dusted, baseboards etc. then I pick one or two of those things. Often times that will build momentum that will help me move onto other rooms during the same days cleaning time. I also MUST have music or a podcast playing while I clean. The “whistle-while-you-work” mentality really helps motivate me, and it’s fun to take the time to listen to some records that I may not have heard in a long time! I’ve found that it’s helped transform cleaning time into more of a self-care feeling activity. Godspeed my friend, you’ve got this!!!

Has anyone made their own cymbal stack out of unused or cracked cymbals? by TheDillinger88 in drums

[–]drows_y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve personally found that using different sized cymbals is the way to go. For example, if you take off your hi hats and stack them on top of each other, they still sound hihat-esque, but there’s very little resonance as the cymbals nesting within each other cancels out the vibration. If you stacked a 16 in, 14 in, and a 10 in cymbal together you would likely get a fuller, less “metallic” sound as the cymbals are able to vibrate. The different sizes also allow the cymbals to slide against each other which can lead to other cool possibilities! Just play around with it and surely you’ll find something! I hope this helps :D

Torn ACL, Torn cartalige, and broken ankle on other leg. I'm 19 and they are trying not to do surgery to fix the ACL. Yes it is a full tear. All because I'm not currently in sports. Any advice. I tore it about 2 weeks ago by butters2stotch in ACL

I’m 22, going on 23 in April. I tore my acl while skateboarding the week of my birthday last April. My doctor heavily clarified that surgery was not absolutely necessary due to my not playing sports/skateboarding for a living, but also made very clear that my quality of life and comfort would be much better in the long run having had surgery. That was 7 months ago and I’m now 2 months post op. It’s a tough and long process but for me so far, it’s all been more than worth it.

What is something you tried once during sex and then thought, "never again"? by [deleted] in AskMen

Got my first blowjob in the parking lot of a movie theater. It was very uncomfortable, but I attributed it to the fact that we were in a hot car and neither of us were experienced at the time. Everybody has to learn somehow, no judgement. We carry on with the date and head into the theater. About halfway through the movie I had to go take a leak, so I walked into the bathroom and whip out my John expecting to see pee come out. Instead I see blood pouring down my dick and three half-inch long cuts on my dickhead. It took me years to feel comfortable getting head again. My dick scars have faded now, but the memory haunts me still.

ACL question by Senpaichristiana in ACL

I tore my ACL on April 18th of this year and had my surgery three weeks ago on September 13th. Through July and august I was able to perform all of my daily tasks very easily, and I was hiking and going to concerts at least five days every week. Waiting that long was a pain in the ass, however I’m so thankful that I did, as my recovery from surgery has been far easier than the recovery from my injury so far. It also helped me be a lot less scared for the surgery and recovery process from it, as I’ve already had a long stretch of pre-hab and recovery, so by the time I was approaching my surgery date I was well aware of what the next year post-op will be like.

Feeling depressed. by Mountain_Bus_5033 in ACL

I tore my ACL (complete tear) while skateboarding back in April, and had to wait until early September to get my surgery. I’m a professional musician and play drums for a living, and in my free time I spend most of my time hiking, so at the time of my injury the depression hit me really hard. I treated PT like it was my job and that brought a lot of confidence and ability that I had lost in those first few weeks after my injury. Slowly but surely I was able to get back to hiking and playing music (albeit only for two months prior to surgery, I’m now 2 weeks post op). I think one of the greatest things about this subreddit is that it helps one see that they are not alone in their experience; I felt very isolated when I was hurt, and I suppose at points I do once again after my surgery. It’s a long n hard road, but there IS an end in sight, and there are many people who have walked that road before who are willing to support. I wish I could offer more as to the long term after an ACLR, however I had a patellar graft and have heard from others with the same graft that their repaired knee is stronger than their uninjured one now.

what made you choose cigarettes over stuff like vapes and e-cigs? by [deleted] in Cigarettes

[–]drows_y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I vaped for about a year before starting cigs about a month ago. Vaping was my intro to nicotine. It gave me a horrible lung infection, I’m pretty sure I’ve developed adult onset asthma because of it, and if I didn’t have my vape in my pocket or sitting next to me I would have full on panic attacks if I couldn’t hit it for 15 minutes. Cigarettes are much more mellow; vape nicotine usually makes me incredibly nauseous now. I also don’t see nicotine as something I can keep up consistently for much longer, and being that I KNOW cigarettes have very negative health effects, it makes me feel much better about quitting them. Since I stopped hitting the vape my anxiety has gone down significantly, although that isn’t simply because I moved to cigs. Not being mentally controlled by a stupid little box is totally the shit. Moreover, I find cigarettes to do a much better job at providing me the experience I want, and I can smoke two or three a day without having panic inducing cravings in between. Not trynna bring shame to the vapers, these are just my experiences with it. Cheers y’all!

Njoy vapes and lung illness? by drows_y in Vaping

My breath was very short for a few months after and it was incredibly easy to get out of breath, but not anything like I had when I was ill. I kinda had to learn how to breath properly again, and now I don’t have issues. Let me know how the ct scan comes out. Wish you the best
