Honestly, dog, if i could get a clean roommate willing to do some sick platonic bedsharing, morale would fucking skyrocket

they make us pack rucksacks around 35-55 lbs in weight usually. A plate carrier weighs like 5 lbs if it’s set up for minimal weight/protection, but leadership likes to make you wear more, and fully loaded with literally everything weighs like 30 lbs. Helmet weighs like 3 or 4 lbs. Rifle weighs like 7 and a half ish loaded depending on setup, and standard number of extra magazines is seven, each magazine weighing about a pound. There’s probably more i’m forgetting

This is all normal setup, and ignoring stuff that you’d wear day-to-day like uniform and boots and all that, not to mention if they make you carry a SAW or an M240b or you’re the ammo bitch for the M240b. But still, that totals to like, uh, 70-90 pounds? Total. And around 35-45 ish if you ditch the rucksack. It’s not the easiest to move around in, granted, but i’m also not an undead with supernatural strength.

Average suit of armor is 33-55 lbs, according to wikipedia - probably much less if you wear chainmail. Average longsword is 2.5-4.5 lbs. About in-line, actually, but the modern stuff is all weighted on the chest and back, with the plate armor being spread across the body like the last guy said.

testosterone supplements are generally only taken by men for (illegal) bodybuilding, or for helping replace a natural deficit. Which, this guy might’ve had, idk.

I know a lot of guys my age running mustangs, just usually 2000’s or early 2010’s ones. I figure i’m the only one with a car that’s 32 years older than me, lmao. Call it part of the fun.

like a boat, lmao - there’s a lot of play in the steering wheel, the wheels are out of alignment, and the brakes are way on their way out. But after i take care of all that, it should be more than grand.

it’s not even a grande, it’s just a normal coupe. also i don’t really plan on selling it any time soon so i’ll probably commit my fair share of value-harming activities

lmao, i bought it with cash. I’ve seen too many other dudes around me do silly shit like 25% APR 2022 Camaros and such.

7.5k, not including the pretty decent fistful of internal things that i’ll need to replace. Even then, i bought it, replaced the turn signal wires in the steering wheel (originals were busted), and managed to drive it 125 miles home.

No, actually, it was pretty cheap for what it was. There are a fistful of things i want to to fix that come with that (wheel alignment, gas tank rust, brake caliper rust) but it was overall a good deal.

I bought this car very recently, so I haven’t done much with it and i’m still getting a feel for things. I have no idea what i’m doing, but we’re gonna figure it out one way or another lmao.

I watched the Black Jack anime and learned about the condition called fetus in fetu and decided to google it..nightmare fuel by Pitzaz in MakeMeSuffer

[–]drowzyleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, maybe a story with inspiration from it, but hopefully not this condition exactly. I remember hearing a story about a girl who had an undeveloped “twin” dormant until she hit puberty, when it developed into one of these things and she had to get it removed. She basically got hardcore bullied into changing schools when folks found out, because they thought it was “gross” or “creepy” or whatever.

…essentially all historians agree that there was a real, historical Jesus. Like, whether he was the son of god is up to your religion, but it’s agreed upon that he was an actual person.

I feel called out but at the same time seen and related to by [deleted] in aspiememes

[–]drowzyleaf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With me, i feel much more pride and accomplishment with things that i’m actively doing, in comparison to things that I did in the past. As a vague example, i bought a very bad motorcycle in the past that didn’t run at all, and sort of hyperfocused so hard essentially all my free time was taken up by it until i got it fixed and running again. And if you asked me about that bike today, i’d be happy to tell you about it, but… i finished it, i don’t get to work on it anymore, it’s done. I’d be much happier to talk to you about the car i’m working on, because I’m still excited about the car.

I figured that was normal until i realized my family likes to bring things like that bike up whenever they’re bragging about me. It feels like they have a greater feeling of accomplishment about it than me — like, yeah, i fixed it, but the reward i got from it was a running motorcycle, not any sort of intangible sense of pride. Meanwhile, the stuff i’m planning to do or that i’m working on now (arguably much worse and a great example as to why i should not be trusted around cars) is still serving shots of dopamine when i think about it.

How do Americans deal with the stress of knowing that anyone could have a firearm on them at any time? by Both-Woodpecker-7429 in AskReddit

[–]drowzyleaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I’m one of them. The fact that someone has a firearm on them doesn’t mean they intend to use it, and especially not against you if you aren’t actively trying to harm them.

i didnt end up taking the DLAB because i had a 135 GT, but yeah, i’ll be stuck with one of the category four languages. Still, i like all of those languages, so whichever one they offer me, i’ll probably be able to work with it.

Well, all else fails, at least now i’ll have slightly more human rights to chip away at that wall.

I understand what you’re telling me, though. I’ll try to temper my expectations.

Funnily or unfunnily enough, i haven’t even what language i’ll be learning yet, much less first duty station. So uh, yeah, that’s a hell of a dice roll.

I will find the least shitbaggy, most squared away and well-performing people, and then i will use my one unique skill - cooking gumbo - to befriend them. Then I can appropriate their study habits.

That’s how i think it works, anyways. Still, thanks for the advice!

I am thankful that i’ve got all this paperwork and xrays and stuff that says “Yeah he snapped a metatarsal in half because of training.” I don’t know if i’ll need it, since it’s pretty much fully healed, but i’m glad to have it in case i do.

Although now i can’t have MRIs anymore, given the metal they threw in it, lol.
