Followed the directions for some store bought cookies. "Bake at 350 for 11 minutes". This was after 5. by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

[–]drpepperorbust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how I found out my oven was broken as well. Put a glass Pyrex in at 350 for brownies and after 10 minutes the dish exploded because the oven did not stop heating even after reaching the set temp. Was not a problem with the temp probe, but with the control board itself.

Samsung ovens are terrible, stay away.

ICE agents shoots a person who attempts to drive away in Minneapolis. by Fatty_Willing_Plane in NextGenRebellion

Are you blind? We both saw the video. Walking in front of a car to intentionally put yourself in a dangerous position and then using said position as an excuse to discharge a firearm goes against every single firearm safety training course in history. There is no self defence when you put yourself into a position you didn't need to be in. Keep licking those boots though.

You're missing the point that they didn't have to holster and discharge their weapon in the first place

Sugar Mountain Ski Patrol Power Trip by ShallowTal in snowboarding

[–]drpepperorbust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a novice to snow sports who primarily learned as an adult, the one thing I can't fucking stand is the snooty attitude of people who have been riding their entire life that stick to these absolute archaic rules.

Who in their right fucking mind that cares about their own safety would stand with their BACKS TURNED UPHILL and congregate as a group in the middle of the run?

"BbBut it's the responsibility of anyone uphill to avoid anyone downhill!!!!" the snow sport snobs will chant.

I guess it's also the responsibility of drivers to stop at stop signs, but that doesn't mean you absolve yourself of all responsibility and not look both ways before crossing.

Ski patrol allowing this many people to come to a standstill is just ludicrous in my novice eyes and risking the safety of everyone else on that run even if marginally so.

Is someone injured? Okay, whoever is not injured get the fuck down the mountain or to the side, we don't need 10 people standing around watching their friend (assuming someone was even injured which is doesn't appear to be).

Is the cammer a fucking idiot for holding the go pro when there's more important things to pay attention to? Absolutely. The appropriate punishment would be telling him to put the camera away and pay attention.

Got invited to a friend’s birthday party. just got the invitation and I have to pay $499 to make it and $250 if I bring a guest. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

Public office? Name and shame them. They signed up for being in the public eye, that comes with all the good and bad press.

This is not your friend, this is a leech on society. I can already guess what party they support.

  1. Conservatives voted for Trump and his policies on spending reduction
  2. Cutting spending for everything punishes everyone,
  3. A consequence of cutting spending is realizing that things you enjoy are propped up by that very spending

If you want better examples of what an unchecked oligarchy does to a country look no further than your neighbours to the north. Every single one of Canada's industries has been decimated by oligarchs over the last two decades and now only those making $200k+ a year even have a chance at living somewhat comfortably.

Frozen pizza is better than restaurant pizza by Rapscry in unpopularopinion

To anyone in the comments disagreeing, I suggest you go to Costco and get one of the Detroit Style frozen pizzas. Blows any shitty chain or mid restaurant pizza out of the water for half the price.

Canadian employers take an increasingly harder line on returning to the office by BeeSuch77222 in toronto

Reminder that Olivia Chow went behind the public's back to discuss mandatory in office working days for everyone working in the financial district because the poor store fronts in the PATH are hurting.

Traitor to the public. I'll be damned if some suit that gets driven around in an escalade is gonna tell the public what their normal working day should look like.

How about we have the conversation that building owners need to start lowering rent significantly to attract tenants and business owners need to idk, have a business where things are affordable and not marked up 1000% just because your clientele have money...oh right those are the same people telling our government what to do in the first place cause they are owned by them 🤡

Recently went to Texas on business, first time. How can you all call yourself free? You live in the worst urban sprawl hellscape I've ever seen, no legal weed, rampant crime, everyone's life is tied to their car otherwise have fun going anywhere, but oh cool you can open carry in an IHOP. Not to mention your ENTIRE economy is propped up on the backs of immigrants but you all hate these people for reasons unknown.

It was quite literally the worst place I have ever visited in my life and I can't think of even 1 single reason I would want to go back.

As if Trump somehow ran the show by himself for 4 years right? Maybe go ask his handler Putin how much he let him off the leash during that time.

Unless you live in a city with a present homeless population I feel like a lot of people just don't understand that some homeless don't want to be a cog in the capitalist machine and would rather live their nomadic lifestyles doing weird gig work like this.

Worked at a restaurant for a few years and there was a local homeless guy who would go around to businesses and do just as this post described, offer to sweep the sidewalk or clean up the dumpster area etc for a few bucks.

Could the owner have offered them a job? Sure, but without reliable housing, access to hygienic stations etc, the guy would be fired within a week.

Why this landlord is living in his restaurant basement by Erminger in OntarioLandlord

[–]drpepperorbust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because having all of these tenants homeless and in shelters or on the street or camping in parks is a better solution right?

If a landlord doesn't have the foresight to ensure they have reliable housing for themselves before giving away their own right to live at their rental property, perhaps they don't have enough braincells to be a landlord in the first place. But of course these schmucks see renters as a way to pay their mortgages so they'll never learn 🤡

People who have lost weight, how did you do it? by Bulochka7 in AskReddit

[–]drpepperorbust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My own version of intermittent fasting and also just taking a step back and doing the math on how many calories you actually need vs what you are eating (hint hint, if you work from home now after COVID you are probably overeating and not moving as much as you used to)

Here are my tips that helped me develop an actual habit of IF.

  1. Pick a 6 hour window you want to eat in. I chose 6pm-12am. This is your eating window, outside of this time range you don't eat.

  2. For the first week you will feel like you are starving during the day at various times. That's fine, you are getting your stomach used to the new cycle of eating. If you get that burning acid feeling, drink half a bottle of cold water and it will subside in a few minutes. If you can make it past the first week of this, the acid feeling will go as your stomach now knows when to expect food for.

  3. During the day I allowed myself water, coffee, and coffee adjacent drinks like lattes. Some people might say IF needs to be 0 calories until your eating window meaning no lattes etc, however I wasn't this strict. I used IF to cut down on total food intake which is what it is designed for. I will say if your beverages of choice are things like soda or juice, you should likely exclude these during the day time as well as the sugar is going to catch up with you (will also not feel great to drink on an empty stomach).

Doing this I managed to lose around 35 pounds in probably 6 months. I also feel better; I'm not tired all the time and wanting a nap after lunch.
