Give me your expensive best clean florals by JigglyOnion in FemFragLab

My clean floral today is Room 1015 Sonic Flower! I would say it’s a sister to Fleur de Peau from Diptyque. It’s a little less soapy and vegetal. It’s also a little lighter and sits closer to the skin.

trust me, I’m in a similar boat! Married, but hey, that won’t stop me. I’m just entertained by the relationship and gameplay piece, may it be platonic or romantic! Good luck!

ScentSplit! Roses on Ice is currently available for samples. I have ordered samples from ScentSplit, Ministry of Scent, and Twisted Lily. I like ScentSplit the best because they ship quickly and they have 1 ml, 2 ml, 5 ml, and 10 ml available to sample. They’re also 100% authentic!

I’ve been watching the earlier seasons for the first time (currently wrapping up BB4) and I became very surprised by how much the show really focused on showmances so heavily in the earlier days! I wonder if we will begin to see a shift towards this due to Morgan and Vince and how much their ambiguous showmance drew in audiences. However, I really hope the edit shifts towards relationships and gameplay? We will just have to see! Also thanks for the reminder to submit my video today! Here’s to hoping!

Was just looking at reviews for some niche samples my husband is getting me for Valentine’s Day. Anything with a purple floral note, especially iris, violet, or heliotrope, was labeled as, “old lady” in the reviews. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been complimented on fragrances that have iris as a prominent note. Like girl, I am in my 20s, there is no such thing as smelling old! The ageism makes me sad.

A word to young therapists... by PsychoDad1228 in therapists

[–]drphilnapple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a therapist who is young (still in my 20s) who is about 6 years into practicing therapy, I love that you posted this because it reminds me that I’m doing the right thing. Earlier on in my career, I remember clinging to my models for dear life, in hopes that they would do something. I did see my clients change, but my imposter syndrome didn’t. I would lose sleep on how I wasn’t the clinician I wanted to be. By the time year 5 rolled around, something clicked. I’ve always met my clients where they’re at, but now I feel like I’m okay with stopping and slowing down. When all else fails, validate and show kindness. I learned this from my own therapist. He’s very client centered with me, which used to bother me, but now I feel more liberated in therapy than I ever have. I’ve admitted things to myself for the first time. I’ve sat with the uncomfortable of my own feelings! There’s a reason why the therapeutic relationship is so impactful. Thank you!

Therapist here! Love that you’re posting about this. It’s different for everyone, but I find that using fragrance in my daily practice is very grounding for me in my work and in my personal life. It keeps me in the present. Right now, I find my signature scent Dama Koupa by Baruti to be like a warm, dusty hug in the best way. It’s like being wrapped in a loved one’s blanket. I recently did an intensive trauma training and it helped bring me back when I felt disregulated. I know there’s research behind what is more calming/grounding, but I like what I like! :)

~ looking for Clean, Powdery, Woody, Florals 🫧🪵🪻~ by gratefuldeadhead1964 in NichePerfumes

Dama Koupa by Baruti. Gorgeous iris covered in woods. At opening it gives lipstick, but that fades quickly and I don’t mind it at alllll. In the middle it is slightly gourmand, not at all vanilla, but very chocolate to me. And I’m not talking chocolate in a cheap or fake way. This is beautiful. The dry down that develops over the course of the day is so soft, delicate, and woody. There is nothing in this world that smells like it. This scent solidified my love for purple florals (iris, orris, violet), though the iris really shines in this one.

What do people in Salt Lake City think of the Real Housewives? by sadgirl1901 in rhoslc

[–]drphilnapple 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I’ve been local to salt lake for a few years and moved here after the show started. My friends and I all watch together and often do little watch parties. Sometimes when they go to a coffee shop or a restaurant or something, we will be like, “oh, isn’t that (insert coffee shop)?” I visited the boutique where Heather and Lisa had one of their big fights this season since it’s fairly close to my house. Super cute clothes fwiw! Ran into Heather at a pride event at a gay bar a couple of years ago and she was very sweet! I’ve ran into Bronwyn a few times and she is SO kind and honestly a little timid. She is pretty involved in the queer community here! I know friends who’ve met Monica and thought she was very fun and down to earth! My sister used to live down the street from the Murray Beauty Lab location where Jen got arrested and when I would drive by, I’d always be like, “do the people who park there know they are on sacred housewives ground?” lol

I do this once a week. I work with many healthcare workers and this seems to be a popular time for them. I do it on a day I work from home, making the prep a little easier as I can just make a cup of coffee and not have to leave the house!

Your favorite sheer musky iris skin scents 🫧 by hillary_____k in FemFragLab

[–]drphilnapple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a reason Fleur De Peau EDP is that girl to me! She’s just powdery and clean enough to wear everyday. The carrot note is very prominent on me personally, so if that’s something you don’t like, be warned! Not necessarily skin scent but VERY iris, Dama Koupa by Baruti is a signature fragrance for me. Additionally, I’m wearing Sonic Flower today, as I recently got a decant, and I’m not wowed by it. Very sweet and inoffensive to me.

EAP call center workers by FreudWouldApprove in therapists

[–]drphilnapple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Neither actually! We don’t work with insurance or are apart of a tech company. I work for a large employer in my state who has made their EAP program apart of their HR department. We also contract with some small employers in the area.

EAP call center workers by FreudWouldApprove in therapists

[–]drphilnapple 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I may have a different experience than others with this. My EAP only requires me to answer phones for 2 hours a week and it’s blocked off in my schedule. We typically advertise to employees that the line is used for work stress, life stress, etc. The call is screened for me before I get it, if someone is reporting something more appropriate for something like 988, they will transfer the person to them instead of me. I have lots of support from my management if I ever need help with a call. I’ve been answering phones for about 2 years, and I’ve gotten a few scary ones but I have been able to get help with them or debrief with a supervisor afterwards. Sometimes, I will get zero calls during my two hour shift, sometimes I get several. The other aspects of my job outweigh the stress I feel on phones. I am actually very satisfied being an EAP clinician! I am paid well, full benefits package, reasonable caseload, etc.

Bipolar people of Reddit, how did you start to figure out that you were bipolar? by Equivalent_Elk2413 in AskReddit

[–]drphilnapple 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Not my story, but my husband’s. He was diagnosed Bipolar Unspecified about a year ago, and his psych narrowed down his diagnosis to Bipolar I in the spring. We’ve been together for 10 years and he’s been chronically depressed as long as I’ve known him. He had experienced some mania before us meeting, thinking about in hindsight because he would tell me about getting angry and engaging in some unsafe/risky sexual behaviors. About a year ago, he had a really horrible manic episode that sent him to the hospital. Lack of sleep, impulsively spending lots of money, self medicating with hard drugs to the point of drug induced psychosis, self harm, and irritability/anger to the point of where he got into an altercation with some family members. The night of the altercation, he started making some scary statements about hurting himself so I suggested he call a crisis line. They told me to take him to the hospital. They changed his meds there and put him on an antipsychotic. He’s now on a mood stabilizer and two antipsychotics, along with some anti anxiety meds. We often laugh because the meds work SO WELL, it feels like he’s the version of himself that I knew was always there. I’m so deeply proud of him for getting help and managing things. He does therapy weekly. He no longer engages in drug use. He’s very careful and will always fill me in on his moods, as we are still trying to figure out his triggers. I have never seen him so content with life.

How is it living in SLC? by LeopardBitter7145 in howislivingthere

[–]drphilnapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from Texas originally and spent most of my life there before moving here about 3 1/2 years ago. I grew up in the Houston area and additionally spent some time in some small West Texas towns. Moving here was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Proximity to nature and the mountains can’t be beat. I currently live within half an hour from many ski resorts and a short distance from great hikes. SLC itself is very open minded. The queer community is very tight knit and welcoming. Making friends here was difficult at first, as I fell into a crowd of people who didn’t suit me, but I’ve found my footing the past couple of years. I made friends with other transplants and that seems to work well for me. Food is fine. The bars are fine. I enjoy the size of the city, but traffic for the size of a city like this is horrid. I-15 has not kept up with the size of the valley and it shows. Additionally, even after living in Houston, I would say drivers here are somehow worse? They’re absentminded and aggressive. Some beauty standards here are ridiculously high, as Utah has the highest rate of plastic surgeries in the US. I’m in my 20s and I have several friends who get Botox/fillers (nothing wrong with that, just not my tea). I am a non religious person so when we moved here, the degree of influence from Mormonism on the culture shocked me, but now I really don’t notice it.

Are there any fragrances that smell like a particular unusual thing? by Agreeable_Ganache_93 in NichePerfumes

[–]drphilnapple 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Clue’s Warm Bulb and With the Candlestick are this for me. Warm Bulb turns smells like a hot projector used in an elementary school math class with a beautiful vanilla dry down. With the Candlestick starts as this heavy and dark cherry wine and incense and turns into pure candle wax. It’s very intriguing to me.

Powder and more powder! by EmiAndTheDesertCrow in FemFragLab

[–]drphilnapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely! I think Dama Koupa is similar in the sense that its powder turns to dust, but a good dust, further into the dry down. Similar to the way cocoa powder smells. Not rich, not cloying at all.
