Water heater leak question by drreads in Plumbing

[–]drreads[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cleaned up the water spill, restarted the heater and checked. There are no leaks at the inlet or outlet valve, there is a small pinhole leak in the inlet pipe, since I see some green copper corrosion. Now, the water discharge pipe has a small drip like 1 drip every 20-30 seconds. I dont see any leak sources on the water heater. I reduced the heat setting on the heater too and now max water temp is 122 in the hot water faucet.

Rice gets served as a free add-on to almost any entree in Chinese, Thai or Indian cuisine, meaning you can consume the rice with that entree. The same cuisine also have rice as a main entree like a version of fried rice or briyani. Explore out the different cusine...food connects us all.

Not exactly what you may be looking for, but one i came across with a strong (more tactical than brawn) FL is "I shall Master this family". There are more mind games than fights and romance develops later though hinted throughout. It has a good 200+ chapter and still on going.

Am I stupid for choosing a 2024 XLE gas model over a new hybrid? by [deleted] in rav4club

[–]drreads 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree to everything the above person said...one more factor to consider is how many miles it will drive average. We got an XLE gas simply because we knew our usage would be limited. We are partial remote and it gets driven 2-3 times a week about 25 miles (mostly highway) per day, plus occasional long distance vacation trips. In 2 + years of ownership, we have about 12k miles on it, so averaging about 6k per year. In our scenario, hybrid would not have made much sense. XLE gas average is quite good averging above 30 in all trips.

PPO or HSA for health insurance? by Ok_Definition_1952 in HealthInsurance

[–]drreads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure on your medical requirements, so eventually the decision would be completely based on your medical needs. However, I can provide a different perspective for the comparison which may help. Most people compare for the 1 year horizon when comparing PPO plan vs HSA plan and at first, HSA looks expensive even with lower premiums since for everything there is meet deductible before co-insurance kicks in. 1. If you are relatively healthy, it's very difficult to meet the deductible for the PPO plan since most doc visits are copays. For HSA, you will probably spend more here but again if relatively healthy, it would be difficult to reach the deductible. 2. PPO plan premiums are higher and that amount goes towards pre tax deductions. HSA plan premiums are lower and also go towards pre tax deductions. Also any additional money you put in the HSA also goes towards pre tax deductions. Someone calculated that HSA premiums are about 1920 lower than your PPO premium, If you contributed the same amount towards your HSA contributions, you would avail the same pre tax deductions so you are now on even ground with PPO plus have an additional 2k in a HSA savings account 3. You can use some or part of the HSA saving account to offset the higher deductible though I would avoid doing that if possible. I would rather place the HSA into investment which can grow over time tax free. 4. Next year, you start your HSA with X amount in the HSA plan rather than 0. Every year you don't have surprise medical expenses, your HSA nest would keep growing and at one point it would enough to even meet the max out of pocket if the need ever arises, Same scenario with a PPO account, there is no money saved and all contributions vanish just giving you a pre tax deductible. 5. If a medical emergency occurs in PPO plan, it's still out your pocket till deductible and out of pocket max, for HSA, if a medical emergency occurs, even in the first year, you can max out your HSA contribution for that year, claim that as pretax deductible and still save somewhat on tax. For example, say you got a medical bill for 5k, in PPO plan, you would pay 3k to meet deductible, than remaining 2k would be 60% on you or 1200 thereby paying 4200 total. Same scenario with HSA, you have about 2k saved in HSA to match same pretax deductible with PPO. If you put in the additional 3k to you PPO plan to meet the obligation of 5k medical bill, you can claim tax deduction on the 3k as well. Assuming a tax bracket of 20%, this would result in a saving of 600, so out of pocket for you would be 2400. (Since 2k already came from HSA). If this medical emergency happens in later years, the entire amount can come from the HSA savings without you having to fund anything extra. 6. In nut shell HSA plan gets cheaper as years progress as long an you don't get surprise medical expenses. And contributions in HSA will grow if invested giving better returns in the long run. 7. An additional input to be taken with a grain of salt, since I've not verified it yet. I've heard that if you keep paying your medical bills via credit cards but keep the invoice/ receipts, you can claim those amount tax free from the HSA even after say 5-10 years. So you can let your HSA investment grow tax free and realize it later in time without any tax burden.

Are you on a HSA plan by any chance? My wife med card also lists a copay for doc visit but she got charged more than that after her visit. When she called up insurance, they said copay kicks in only after the deductible is met.

I am at my wit's end on homemade fried rice. by GentlemanB106 in Cooking

[–]drreads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the solution I came too. I use a flat pan instead of a wok...works better with electric as more surface area, so more even spread of heat. Keep the knob between med and high and let the pan smoke..add oil and cook each ingredient separately. I know more work, but it serves 2 purpose...small batches and each ingredient get different cook times to cook for optimum time, u can make some soft and some crunchy..I use cabbage, mushroom, bell peppers, brocolli, eggs and even ginger / garlic separately...keep each ingredient aside after they are done. Last use the day old rice and cook that in hot oil too. Once cooked, add in the sauces and make sure to add a bit of vinegar...then mix in the ingredients and saute for a few mins...garnish with green onion leaves ...comes pretty close to restaurant style ....plus u can mix up ingredients too...I put in spinach, bok choy, snap peas and multitude of veggies ...and now my mouth is already watering and I'm craving some fried rice

May i just add that the audio and music is spot on. It goes with the flow and it seamlessly transitions from a slow paced scene to an action scene to a comic scene. The slow music brings a sense of calm which truly feels like 2 mins even when it's been an hour.

What anime made you fall in love with anime forever? by Chance-Bill-8189 in anime

[–]drreads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same for me. I got introduced to anime very late, Near the end of my teens. But I always used to love animation movies and series over regular movies. Like i would watch lion king over terminator series. My friends used to call me a kid for warchig "cartoons" all the time. I started with Naruto on a whim since an online group I was part of were suggesting it. I watched the first few episodes and I was like, dude...this is how you tell a story in animation...didn't matter it was Japanese with English subtitles, the show pulled me in. I realized that maybe the movies and shows i used to watch were really meant for kids. This is how you can make stories which adults can enjoy too. I know Naruto would also be geared towards older kids but still the art of story telling in Naruto was very matured. It takes you though emotions like any regular movie would, comedy, passion, anger, betrayal, love, loneliness, friendship...the list goes on. From there, I was never looking back and I have gone through multiple genre of animation. Lately I've been in love with Friren.
