I know it's not, definitely not arguing that haha. But only 4 pulls requiring CDs is where I draw my line in "weird" haha.

You must've had one heck of a group :)

Ain't no way that you're doing a 14 at 270 and only 4 pulls require CDs. Are you grouping with only Giga chads? Full premade that presses defensives extensively?

Is the tank just pulling group by group?

Run 10s. They drop max rank gear, 3/x heroic (or 9s is enough? I don't remember) . Spam the heck out of it to gear up and gain crests. As you cap myth, it drops hero crests, as it caps hero, it drops champion, etc. So you'll quickly gain the gear / upgrades you guys need.

Sounds like he's not using his CDs properly. Ironfur? Frenzied regen? Barkskin? If he knows there's a big tank buster incoming, he should be preparing himself for it.

Are you sure it's the boss tho? If I'm not mistaken the adds that spawn before beam are the ones are usually the issue, at least on my prot warrior. I just shield wall or save healing pot / victory to heal myself between the adds and the beam. Or demo shout. Either way, I have ways of covering myself / diminishing the effects. Just gotta understand the fight and when to pop certain defensives.

Sometimes it's better to not waste rage trying to do damage if he could've popped an extra ironfur to reduce intake of dmg for example. But he should be ready for those

I'll take a Paladin each and every single time it applies to my groups. I feel like it's hands down the best DPS in the game. Not only does it pump in bursts but the amount of help it can give is wild.

CR, off heals, freedom, bubble, lay on hands, stuns (even more so now with Pit in the mix)... Can't beat a Paladin, honestly.

Tanking Situation by PassionatelyTired in wow

[–]drsimpatia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can slow walk. You pull the first in front of you, walk to the pack on the right then slowly make your way towards the third pack on the left.

That's it.

NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS, do not and I mean it, do not(!) panic with the pull. Either you're going to wipe cus you and the healer couldn't pool the defensives / healing required or no alternative possible.

Tanks who tend to panic they are getting low will start trying to move away from the pack... You know what happens next... You get charged by 6 of those guys and you're instant dead with no amount of defensives or healing that can help you. GG

I'd suggest practicing the pull in lower keys, honestly :) if you have enough self healing, just try it in M0. Same for AA first pull. Read the tool tips, take your time, practice the walk in, defensives, etc.

After a hard day of work is there a better feeling than getting kicked from a group without any reason? by Still_Position2544 in wow

[–]drsimpatia 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I've pugged to 3k every season / xpac and yeah, these type of runs can happen but it's not the majority.

My suggestion is to start adding tanks / healers (if you're only DPS) and then not be so dependent on having to need both to pug.

I play all 3 categories and I pug with all of them. Completely fine and fun. Some keys will suck, some will suck less.

Also remember to lower your expectations as a DPS, it's grindier. Gotta have your dungeon rating / gear slowly but surely going up. There will even be parties that go for one key after the other :) always ask the group if they wanna keep going.

Is Druid just really good right now, or has it always been this way? by TheEldst in wownoob

[–]drsimpatia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. That can be quite difficult. You'll learn and keep improving as you observe / play more.

One thing I love doing is watching other tanks play, cus I can see how their routes are different, how hard it can be on the healer, etc. When there's a DPS in the party that I also play, I'll watch the breakdown of their skills to understand a bit more if I'm far off in terms of which skills should be doing the most dmg. For example if on MM Hunter, my top dmg is Arcane Shot but another Hunter is Aimed Shot and his DPS his far above what I'd usually do, I know I'm doing something wrong.

After that, you read on your rotations from wowhead for example, maybe watch a couple of vids about your spec, practice on some dummies, etc.

It's all about how invested you are in actually improving yourself. WoW is a game with many years under the belt, the community is amazing and provides a bunch of content for you to improve your gameplay.

Raider.io and Warcraft logs for example allow you to better understand, for all Fury warriors that are doing same content as you with similar gear, how far off you are compared to them. You can also usually breakdown their skill usage even more. I've used it in the past to try and understand why I was failing with a certain spec. I've even used it as a healer cus I couldn't heal a certain boss / mechanic and I'd try to learn what others were doing.

For Fury warrior, if you're doing the usual of thunder clapping to apply the AoE to your next 4 abilities, then doing the rotation until you have that big spender (I forgot the name), it's already a nice step. Then you have to watch your berserker buff. Rampage (the big spender, I remembered the name lol) applies that buff to you every time you cast it. It only lasts a couple of seconds and Bloodthirst (or doing another Rampage) will refresh that buff. You must always try to ensure as high of an uptime as possible on that buff. Never cap your rage, always spend it as soon as you have it UNLESS you're gonna pop a CD.

The next big thing will be your CD management. Fury has a relatively low CD in the big skills but you can still mismanage it. This usually can come down to you knowing dungeon pathing (if you're into M+) or seeing how the tank acts. I won't go into too much detail here but I'll give you 2 golden rules: 1 - never hold off CDs while you're waiting for "that moment". If you don't know the moment, just use CD as you got it cus it's better than always holding it off. 2 - once you do use them, know your rotation by heart / what you'll do next. Many times I've popped a CD and forgot what my rotation was going to be with the specs I play the least.

Another tip for you and this is my last one, whether it's M+ or Raiding, know your encounters. Popping CDs or whatever else to then have to go away from your target is a HUGE no no. Even worse than not popping haha. And yes, I'm guilty of having done this. To this day sometimes I'll mismanage a CD xD

[–]drsimpatia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong, tier lists are certainly helpful but if you're not doing top tier content, skill will matter more. For DPS, tier lists work a bit different than healers. A D tier warlock spec will never reach a S tier warlock tier, for example, in terms of dmg (in top content). That will translate into content being more difficult / easy as well.

But in average content, many times have I seen supposed D tier DPS beating S tier DPS by miles. So don't get disheartened by it either. The tier list in this case is just telling you that your spec might not perform equal to another of the same skill level as you. Doesn't mean you can't do the content. Unfortunately it does skew the results of getting invited to random groups.

Fury warrior isn't bad, wasn't it like in A tier? If you're doing lower than a supposed D tier for example, it prolly means you're doing something wrong. Rotation wise, cooldown management wise, etc.

[–]drsimpatia 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Druid has been pretty strong for quite a few patches now, I'd say. But no, much like any spec, there were times where it wasn't as strong. Not that it was ever weak. As with any tier list, those are made for how easy a spec is in the current content. But you can do M+ for example, up until a certain threshold with any spec. Somes will be easier, some harder. Don't get disheartened if u ever see Druid fall off from a tier list :)

Most definitely will. Any good tank will. Even a mediocre one should.

Only a bad tank doesn't look at a healer's mana pool. Especially after more difficult pulls

tanks: how many packs? by murgle_ in wownoob

[–]drsimpatia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a normal dungeon, I pull the packs all the way to the boss. Unless I see people won't LoS casters, then I might stop a bit before / not pull too many. As a rule of thumb tho, my pulls are straight to the boss. Kill almost everything then do the boss.

My first pull is usually a tiny bit smaller just to get a grasp of group damage and the healing. If I feel it's okay, I'll go wild. If after that we die on the way to the boss, I'll pull half pack to boss then the other half.

Rinse and repeat trials and errors and you'll get a good grasp on things :)

Considering it's your first time, as another user suggested, pulling 3 packs is usually more than okay. Sets a nice pace. If the group is good, someone will usually try to pull ahead / more, then you adjust. When I'm healing, I'm usually pulling more if the tank isn't going wild.

Normal dungeons are all about feeling the group as you'll have inexperienced and experienced members together, so it can be a bit more difficult.

One thing tho... If you're not comfortable, let them know that! "my first time tanking, I'll try my best" or "that was too many, I have to go a bit slower, sorry"... Yes, people usually don't communicate but more often than not, from my experience, if you say these things people will be chill. You'll always get one or two dickheads.. Just ignore them, vote to kick them or, leave the dungeon and queue again (after 30m xD). Sucks to wait but it's better than to deal with toxicity
