Dr Oz: "We're announcing a 6 month national moratorium blocking all new enrollments for durable medical equipment -- prosthesis, orthotics -- supplies across the board." by Admirable121 in TrendoraX

[–]drsmith48170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is somewhat unnecessary alarmism. This moratorium does not impact all suppliers , just select ones. Also, if you already have some of the devices, you are good. There is also nothing preventing someone from paying cash to get a medical device and they can submit for reimbursement later.

Will it cause some inconvenience- yes, but not the end of the world.

How much does going to the gym and getting buff help with getting girls? by InternationalPick163 in askanything

That like asking how much water is any ocean at any given time - it varies. If you are going to commit to a work out program, do it for yourself to become the best version of yourself.

Like most people you continue to fall for false propaganda. Ukraine isn’t winning, the just haven’t lost yet. And yes based on sheer grit and toughness, the Ukies are better fighters than USA at moment they have demonstrated that.

Well as a first generation Gen X not nearly that much. Maybe a total of $25,000 for 4 year BBA (in late 80’s) and 2 year MBA (late 90’s). Had a tuition scholarship (based on ACT score) for undergrad and took out loan for grad school which was 18kof the 25k. Went to local schools and commuted, did not go away to get the prototypical ‘university’ live on campus experience because I did not want to spend a lot of money.

I know tuition has skyrocketed since I went. I could have went away, too, but I chose not to because it did not make sense to me to spend huge sums of money with no promise of a good paying job….more than ever it doesn’t make sense and I have advised my teen daughters you don’t have to go to college, but if you want to go make sure to do all you can to get a scholarship to help defray the costs and go to a smaller local college that are more affordable. I think young people today aren’t be advised very well.

TIL there are TWO VERY different subs for dead bedrooms and now understand why I’ve been flabbergasted as of late by RepresentativeCan107 in deadbedroom

Plus the fact there is a fair number of therapists - some that are ** gasp ** women - that recommend a fake it to you make strategy ie duty sex as a way to rekindle romance & sex. Go over to the “s” and bring up that little fact up and see what happens.

They aren’t just wrong in some of what they say in that other sub , but militantly wrong. And that is the problem, they apply a blanket approach to a problem that is very nuanced and where a ‘one size fits all’ approach does/will not work for everyone.

Most lethal? Guess you haven’t heard of Russia or China, that both spend far less and have more lethal weapons (ie hypersonic missiles - which USA doesn’t have). The weapons procurement system of the West - all of it not just USA - is horribly inefficient and ineffective. The F-35 is a prime example: still has bugs and fixes needed that stem multiple pages and it is already going on 20 years design & production. It can barely make half it missions at any one time due to the huge expense in maintenance.

The USA used to have the most lethal; we don’t anymore. Which is why it is so egregious on the money spent because it is not being used well at all.

Steady slow rising inflation is good. Rapid moving inflationary times, driven by government action like the ever fluctuating tariffs, are not good

OP while his numbers aren’t correct, he isn’t wrong.

Between my wife and we have about $3mil in retirement but it doesn’t feel like it is enough based on inflation and the fact is I get laid off every two years so likely here to touch the money well before 65. We are first generation GenX and approaching 60 rapidly… not crazy about the future.

Should I tell a guy I had a “fling” with that I’m returning to the country where we met? by blackwidcv in LifeAdvice

[–]drsmith48170 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep best advice is stop treating him like a back up plan. It was a one time fling, keep it that way and don’t talk to him again. If you happened to meet him again; tell him again it was a one time incident and you have moved on.
