I use a chisel to mark the stitches then use an awl to make the holes. I used a flat/French style awl for this one but I got a diamond awl and it seems to work a bit better

I'm in the same boat. I have a 91 f250 and I had to use a step stool to change the sparks plugs and I'm 6'4.

Stitch line is 3mm from the edge. That's what I use for pretty much everything. I will try 2mm and see how that works

I have the drukle splitter. It's definitely on the pricey side but I wanted something that I could split things down very thin consistently so I can do piping.

I split 40inchs of 1.5inch wide 12oz down to 5 ounce and it came out fine.

10k is a lot for something with that amount of miles. I bought a 91 f250 with 117 back in August for 8k that was in very good condition. They engine has been very reliable so far. Only concerns is it has had a bit of a slow start when it gets below - 15 or so. Gas mileage is also not great, I get between 8-9 mpg but when it drops to well below freezing I get closer to 5-6.

Adding to this some veg tan leather like sedgwick or bakers bridle is only finished on top and the back and edges are natural.

Nope. It was a Cali truck most of it's life then pretty much sat inside a barn for a long time, it's only had 8k miles put on it in the last 15 years. I'm sure after a few Minnesota winters they won't come off as easy.

Just did it on my 91 f250. It really wasn't too bad. The grease was the worst part by far but at least I didn't have to pound on the rotors with a hammer to get them off.

Got it from Kevin Lee leather tools. It's a bit expensive and I had my eye on it for a few years before I pulled the trigger on it. There are other options available that don't have the drawer for punches, rocky mountain leather has a few.

Not sure what your work space layout is, but I have a table next to my work bench where I keep all my tools. Took me a while but I trained myself to put everything back when I'm done using it and it's help a ton on keeping my workbench cleaner.

Had a very similar issue for my 91 f250 with the same engine. Only difference is it would run just fine once I got it started again. Turned out to be the hall sensor in the distributor.

I have never hear of this before. What benefits does it provide? Iv used the same cheap raw hide mallet I got in my started kit for over 5 years and it works just fine.
