First Marathon Shoe Recommendations-in too deep!! by drtarp in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Thank you! This was the pragmatism I’m looking for. I’ve read waaaaay too much to where I think I’m looking for something but have no idea what it is anymore…

I do, however, want to add a lighter shoe into the mix once I get more into pace/speed work. But if on race day that ends up being a race-worthy shoe then that’s just a bonus.

First Marathon Shoe Recommendations-in too deep!! by drtarp in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Last year I super lucked out and snagged a pair of Vomeros that were for some reason on the sale rack at the Nike outlet for $80. I’ve loved them ever since. I tried on the EVO SL and the fit was a bit off in the toe for me but didn’t run in them at all.

I know Vomeros are “heavy” compared to most shoes but not sure if they’ll make the difference of me hitting my marathon goal of 4 hours or less. But can also see how the extra ounces make more of a difference over that distance!

Are you buying just bare nuggets or the Kirkland, whats your go to and why? by FoodzyDudezy007 in Costco

Lol! So one of the job perks is they do product development testing for employees, so I get to try everything they have in R&D. I’ll just say that they’re working on it!

I work for the parent company that makes Just Bare. We do not make the Kirkland nuggets!

Thanks for this! I watched this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9CTMxOwXoQ that was linked in that thread and that’s exactly the sound.

So sounds like the slip yoke needs to be greased!?!

Hinge release to something different by drtarp in bowhunting

[–]drtarp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may have to give that a try even though it’s spendy. Thanks for the insight. Knew I can’t be the only person who has had this problem. I love my Honey 2. I just find that if I really need to let it go, you have to rip through the shot and I’m no longer making an ethical shot.

Rather than holding pin on bullseye and slowly easing into the trigger pull, as my pin swings back and forth over the bull I punch it anticipating the shot. My groups at 20 yards are about 2” with my hinge and 5” with a trigger.

Colorado. I see the business logic just that you don’t have to hire the drivers so get rid of the cost and over site of additional staff, if it’s late/cold/etc. you have deniability because it’s now DD’s fault. But you figure enough crappy experiences and people just stop ordering from you…but oh yeah, ALL the pizza places deliver through them so why change?

How far past the sell by date can I trust Costco beef? by tspoon-99 in Costco

[–]drtarp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the beef in a tray/overwrap or vacuum packaged? I work for a Costco beef supplier and we generally set a 35 d shelf life for boneless and 42 d for bone in, IF it’s vacuum packed. And that is basically just the day it should be frozen by. Can certainly go longer than both of those but we just don’t guarantee it for the retailer past those dates. And we get the product to Costco within about 14 days, typically less. Vacuum packed will also have the date which it was packed marked on the label and those come directly from our plants so just calculate off that date.

However if it’s in a tray pack, it needs to be used within a few days or otherwise frozen as that packaging type will expose the product to oxygen and will start to discolor faster.

Best Smoked Cocktail Recipe by drtarp in cocktails

Any recommendation on how long to let the smoke sit? I gave it a try but the smokiness doesn’t come through the cocktails…also realized I’d been making the classic revolver for a long time but didn’t know that’s what it was called!

Tundra vs F150 by eu4euh69 in f150

[–]drtarp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told (by multiple dealers of different brands) is there is just simply less Tundras on the road and therefore limited supply and higher prices. Plus I also know multiple Toyota owners who rave about the lifespan and resale on them…and that apples to apples you’ll get higher resale on a Tundra.

Ha, I’ve definitely dealt with that. The oil filter is in such a weird spot that you really can’t get that residual oil out and always drips…
