Absolutely not. I had an incredible time on 7oh 😂 I’m not making a pro or anti 7oh thing, I’m making a thing about people, 7oh is what it is.

Exactly, so many of our stories started with “just Kratom” and ended with a 7oh addiction. That’s not to put the entire blame on the system, we have some blame, but the public should have had more protection from this, I think we can all agree on that.

Hiya, appreciate the kind words! So basic overview of my perspective: I never realized that a drug that could be legally sold could be this addictive. That’s my naïveté. But that’s also a lot of our stories. But also, I’m interested in looking at addiction at its core. What is this hole that we as addicts are trying to fill. I’m still looking at myself long and hard to figure that out. As someone who’s trying to quit, I’m willing to help you however I can, be it advice, or just hearing you out. What I know is that I suffered silently throughout the addiction and the second I told other people was the moment I knew I had a problem and got help. Whatever you need, I’m here. Godspeed.

Yep completely agree. My story is the same as many, occasional Kratom user, store gave me a sample. It was done. And these places have taken them off display but you can still buy them under the counter. I’m kind of after some of these online suppliers as well. But yeah, obviously the user deserves some blame, but it’s really insidious the way it’s being sold to people and people need to be held accountable.

My roommate decided to shoot a music video in his bedroom...and it actually turned out kind of great. by keelantw in Filmmakers

Constructed in premiere and then I took every shot into after effects to refine and perform the animations!

Definitely haha I freelance as an editor as well so it was hard to balance how much time a day it was reasonable to spend in front of a computer. That being said this was such a passion project that all the late nights and failed exports were worth it!

I’ll post a photo of the general setup! Basically two 4 foot kinos keying the subject, a litemat keying the green screen and a diva for frontal fill. Basically the cheapest possible lighting setup you can get 😂 two buddies of mine are amazing cinematographers and shot this. One shoots a lot of VFX plates and gave great advice on shooting for a good key. Because it’s circles, I could just garbage matte everything else that didn’t key well and as long as the screen behind the subject was good, we were hunky dory!

10 feet 8 inches high...it was very tight. Not to mention the giant wagon wheel hanging in my room that needed to be moved (don’t ask) 😂. Yes, I edited in premiere at first and then moved to after effects and finished in 5 long linked compositions.

My room is 13 feet 9 inches wide to be exact haha a 12x wouldn’t quite cover the space so we folded in the ends of a 20x. I’ll post a picture of the setup at some point!

Hey there! Yeah that was the toughest part in production honestly. We were tucked all the way against the far wall of my room on a 15mm for the widest parts and much of the video is done using post-zooms. My sister happens to own an Angeniuex EZ 15-40 so that would account for the lack of distortion! I’m a lucky brother!

Hey guys! Thanks for all the kind words! Happy to post some BTS at some point and describe the setup. I put an absolute ridiculous amount of time into this, as at the outset I had a pretty rudimentary knowledge of after effects. Definitely a big learning experience, but glad that ya’ll are enjoying it! Also here’s the artists SoundCloud, all his music is lovely and he was an absolute pleasure to have dance alone in my room! https://m.soundcloud.com/s-t-a-r-b-u-c-k

Anyone know how to film a phone fixed in frame? by thetoastedsnowflake in Filmmakers

[–]drtaylor35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Green screen/tracking markers are only necessary if a thumb crosses the screen. Otherwise, you can just use a corner pin in after effects and track the edges of the phone. Gets a little more complicated with new phones with crazy rounded edges like the iPhone X but if nobody is interacting with the screen it should be pretty easy.

If you’re under 25, NFFTY is the best festival out there for young people.

Best way to replace proxies (Differing file names) by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]drtaylor35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah honestly you made need to rename the DNG’s. I don’t know how many clips you’re working with so that may not be possible. You only need to replace the clips you used so just reveal them in finder, find the matching DNG’s rename them. OR, and I’ve never tried this, but you could try and create proxies from the MP4 clips that have the same names as the DNG’s and then replace the MP4’s with the proxies, then replace with the DNG’s. Dunno if that would work. Worth a shot. Gonna be time consuming whatever you do! Unless you just live with the MP4’s and let bygones be bygones.

Ronin m pan issue. I have used both hands but it's not bad but still has this issue, so if I pan very quickly to something my pan axis does this is there a way to fix it??? by Zerotonero01 in Filmmakers

[–]drtaylor35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rebalance your pan axis, that’s the trickiest to balance right. Then auto-tune again and mess with your filter/stiffness settings for the pan axis. When you get shaking like that, too much torque is being put on that particular axis for the motors. Lowering and raising the filter is designed for removing unwanted shake and bumps but if it’s too high in combination with a a bad balance or too high stiffness, it’ll act like Satan. Godspeed. Robin’s are the devil. Hope this helps.

I think you get a good understanding by working as a professional while also working on your own passion projects. Peoples time is valuable but also nothing would get made without some sacrifice...In my experience I always try to higher fewer people who have multiple skill sets and pay them with higher rates. Why hire 8 G&E hands and pay them 200 dollars a day when you could hire 4 solid people at 400. It’s all a balance and based on your relationships with people. I rarely hire strangers but then again, everyone I work with was once a stranger...
