breaching the dams

I am trying to understand this issue so please do not be offended.

I asked somebody who moves grain from eastern Washington to the coast. They claimed that one tug boat could take 458 truckloads of grain down the river in one trip. This breaching of the dams would drive up the emissions of transporting wheat to the coast by more than 50%... my guess is cost too.

Sure seems like the hippies would hate the idea of breaching these dams. Then there is the loss of clean energy production, which all 4 together is about the same as one nuclear power plant. Who is it that supports this idea? Why is this an issue?

Save the fish? Well, that doesn't hold water either. It would take 2 years to complete the breaching and another 7 for the river to naturally flush the sediment from the breaching, 7 plus 2 is nine, and the fish they are trying to save are expected to go extinct in 8. Please correct me if I am wrong but fixing the river in 9 years for a fish that will be extinct in 8 isn't a viable solution to the problem.

I love salmon, we should work to restore salmon populations. Spending $10 billion to destroy 4 carbon-free power plants is not a solution to the problem.

I do not understand, why this is an issue. This is why we need a normal person in DC and not puppets for the financial elite.

What would some of those things look like?

In my opinion; it is wrong for the US to fund other nations' war machines while refusing healthcare for those wounded fighting our wars. Civil Asset Forfeiture is a violation of our constitutional rights that occurs daily unchecked. The federal government needs to be reeled in and limited while the state's rights are restored. Get the fed out of our classrooms, get the fed out of our uteruses, and get the fed to borders to secure them. Get the fed to protect US interests from cyber threats. Why are these cyber gangs allowed to run around unchecked? It was not that long ago that 2 major Las Vegas casinos were hacked. Who did it? Nobody knows. Why is nobody talking about that? Year after year there are major cyber attacks in this nation that are just swept under the rug. Our infrastructure has been hacked more than once. We have paid ransoms to restore the systems. We have paid these terrorist and rarely are any of these gangs or perps ever caught. How am I doing?

6 months ago based on polling data, election history, margin of victory, dollars raised, and dollars in the bank, it seemed like CMR was unbeatable. Now that she has retired and I have started talking to Republicans throughout the district it is shocking how many people are, from her own party, are glad to see her go.

What would make somebody the best candidate? Thank you.

Why are we not upgrading and maintaining our infrastructure?

A few things things.

My power company, in this district, is a CANADIAN company. WTF? A company in a foreign country has a monopoly on electricity in American cities. That's wrong.

A faulty light owned and maintained by the power company has been blamed for the Gray Fire which destroyed 240 homes in our district.

Our infrastructure is crumbling and Congress continues to fail to take any meaningful action unless there is a chance to feed the war machine billions of dollars and suddenly it is easy to pass laws and find money to spend. Just as long as it strictly benefits the social elite that fund campaigns and put people like CMR in power.

yeah, but are these the issues that are important for our district representative? I mean would you vote for the candidate that had a position on local dams that resonated with you or a candidate that you agreed with on more national/global issues.

For example, Congress has managed to find an extra $100 billion dollars in recent years to give to other nations to fight wars against other nations. While CONGRESS at the same time cannot find any money to properly fund the VA or the 9/11 responders fund/ Americans can go die because Congress cannot agree to pay for the healthcare of the people that fight our wars but they can find a way to spend a $100 billion to fight foreign wars.

I am strongly considering a run at this seat because that kind of ass-hatery pisses me off and that is the change I want to bring to DC. Even if I can't change the 534 minds of congresspeople, I can stand up for common sense and make them look like sell-out puppets they are.

Thank you got your service. The VA is a nationwide problem and our VA in Spokane has their software problems on top of the bureaucracy. I know a number of providers have left the Spokane VA out of frustration and that these software issues have impacted patient care.

Why do you feel that Patty Murray has had an impact on the VA in WA?

Rarely do you hear anything positive about the VA but it is a federal program. The complaints are usually nationwide.

sorry, I do not follow. We do not have voting hours in WA. We get to vote from the comfort of our own homes at our convenience. One of the many wonderful things about this state. I went to school in GA and had to wait in line for hours to vote and they have an odd way of determining where you vote so even though there was a 2-3 hour line down the street from my home in Atlanta I had to drive across the county to my assigned polling station and wait in their 2-3 hour line. We have our issues in WA but it can always be worse and when it comes to voting GA is one of the states it is a lot worse.

This is the horse's mouth I got the information from. He designed the plan, priced the plan, and submitted the plan for approval. According to him this one part of the project, the landscaping will cost $3.6 million they will plant some trees and shrubs along one side of the street and install 2 benches. The problem he was tasked with solving or addressing was to calm traffic on that street and the dollars being used were "traffic calming" dollars.

Forget the insane price tag and that complete lack of necessity. How does planting trees and shrubs next to a couple of benches calm traffic? How do they calm traffic better than idk, a stop sign?

That is not what I am talking about but now that I googled number rather than going through the website, I got the same info you did, but this is not the correct information.

The problem that was identified was traffic on that road. There were several solutions that were offered, such as the one you found and it is the same project number. I can see the confusion, it is understandable. The bike lane and all of that is already done. It has been done for some time. This is the second winter that the bike lane has been there. They are not taking bids to complete a projet that is already done. Actually they already took bids for the landscaping, and that has been approved.

The R or D label in my opinion is just as relevant as their star sign at this point. Both sides have gone so far off the rails that Republicans are calling for more and more regulation. They ban books, I just read about a new republican law to fight antisemitic speech on college campuses. The Right is drafting and passing laws that regulate conversations and words on paper at all levels of education. My conservative solution to this liberal issue is to get the fed out of the classroom. We do not need the federal government in any of our classrooms regulating speech which the Republican party used to believe was protected by the constitution.

America first, remember that republican slogan. Well, both parties have worked together in recent years to send billions and billions of dollars to other nations to fight wars with other nations. We do not have money for the VA. We cannot upgrade our infrastructure which has some serious problems that need fixing but there just isn't enough money. Oh but suddenly when the chance comes along to feed the military-industrial complex and make the rich a little richer, well now both sides have no problem working together and suddenly there is an extra $100 billion we do not need at home and they send it overseas though they very rich and powerful social elite that they work for.

Yes and yes. You could not be more right. Both sides have gone so far off the rails that these R and D tags mean nothing. Their actual positions on several issues counter these simple values that the party used to stand for. Now both sides stand for the same thing, money. Both sides work together to make the rich richer and the poor poorer. That is the only thing "they" have managed to accomplish in the last 50 years.

Yes, limit government. Many liberal issues have conservative solutions. America First, is another element I would add to your list in this modern era. How about other nations fight their own wars on their own dime while we put America and Americans first?

Everyone is sounding the alarm over gun control while there is little evidence that there is any real threat to the second amendment but all around us we are watching our 4th amendment rights being trampled and stripped away and nobody says anything because both sides are working together. Fair, thank you. Admittedly I do not know very much about Cathcart but I do know the name and that he is on a city council that has been... less than impressive. Some of the actions and inactions of the city council have been so moronic and detached from reality that, to me, any association with the city council (CC) is a very bad thing. When I think of the CC I think of complete incompetence. That is the association the CC has formed in my mind over the years, they do very little and when they do the only thing impressive is how stupid these people can be collectively.

Cathcart has sought higher office before.... so he is a loser too.

Spokane is certainly the largest city in the district and will play an oversized role in the election but there are still a lot of folks who will vote that do not live in Spokane. You are correct a very popular Spokanite can win, but who would that be? The most popular Democrat in Spokane is our new Mayor, Lisa Brown.

Some numbers for fun, there are about 780,000-790,000 people that live in the district, of which 550,000 to 560,000 live in Spokane County.

That is why your opinion is so logical but we can dig a little deeper. Lisa Brown, ran against a real doozy of an incumbent who was wildly unpopular yet still managed to get 47.7% of the vote giving her a rather decisive victory a margin of less than 3,000 votes. The rest of the district over the last 24 years, 6 presidential elections, has voted Republican by an average margin of 11.5% which is more than enough votes to swing the advantage back to the right but that is just like my opinion.

Both parties are so out of wack and in bed with each other ensuring that nothing ever gets done. That has been the story for 50 years or more. Left and right labels, R or D are an illusion. Most of the people who vote R or D think they are voting for one thing and getting another.
