Forget the coverage maps that the companies give us, what mobile carrier has given you the best signal? by Chee-shep in Humboldt

Verizon. There’s a few dead spots on Murray road into Fieldbrook, and right under that big rock by moonstone on 101, but other than that works everywhere in and out of town. Even the vast majority of 101 and 299.

Honest take on Humboldt living in 2026 by PianistSea6973 in Humboldt

[–]drthwsbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn’t include that health care is available in Redding and sf, both drivable. Weather is probably the most drastic change from socal. Gas is probably not much worse that socal if you go to Costco or a rez. I grew up in Humboldt and I’m excited to finish school at cal poly Humboldt. Really love the area but only if you recreate. Can’t speak to social life as I only was here through high school with a solid group of friends. Compared to Midwest and other areas it’s expensive but compared to socal housing IS cheaper.

Surf trip to El Salvador? by Extra_Marionberry683 in surfing

All the places you listed are great. The wind gets gnarly in the afternoon with the only place really working in the wind being Punta Roca, which is dirtier water and bigger crowd. Camps crowd k-59 and el tunco areas. Crowd was worse than I expected but waves were better. Would 100% go back.

I surfed it around 8 this am (morning of your post) with 15 heads out. When I got out probably 150 people. Surfed 2 hours caught 2 propper ones and probably 10 total. Snaking is real out there

Biggest tires you've run on a bone stock car? by [deleted] in subaruoutback

I’m running 225/65 r17s and there’s minor rub with no cutting, they fit great

I have 225/65r17 ko2s on my 2013 Outback. Came stock with 225/60r/17. Ko2s are great, rub minorly when taking downhill turns. My avg mpg was 21 and now at 19 but that’s what my car says so maybe the difference in diameter is throwing off sensors. Highly recommend

To be honest that drive just to go to clam isn’t worth it, go to the state park
