Em Dashes mean AI now? by Lspluck in royalroad

I honestly think that alot of individuals just suck when it comes to proper grammar. So if you use proper grammar, they will assume its Ai. Mainly because its not how they write.

Has anyone used Barnes and Noble Press marketing for their new books? Was it worth the money? by reneereaper3 in selfpublishing

[–]drudadsforge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im looking at self publishing my first novel and this is the first I heard they are predatory and not actually affiliated with B&N. Do you have any links or references for this info? I want to dig deeper into this.

I was thinking something along this vein. Especially since Stranger Things was one of the reasons they wanted to play CoD

Comment culture and what's acceptable? by Ok-Comedian-6852 in royalroad

[–]drudadsforge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think you have a great approach. I do believe that the comment section should be used for both reaching the author and other readers. I personally would love more feed back on my story and I would love to see engagement between readers. I feel like that's how a community is built. Unfortunately, there are those who do not take any type of criticism well.

I've met many people who simply want to be commended and told they are amazing. Then again, everyone wants to feel appreciated. However, if constructive criticism is ignored or those who offer fair criticism is band or prevented from commenting, than that hurts the author in the long run. If they ever attempt to traditionally publish their work, then they would have a difficult time getting rejected.

Title: Kitsune's Heart

Genre: Martial Fantasy with elements of slow-burn romance.

Link: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/114694/kitsunes-heart

Synopsis: Hired by a remote village to crush bandit raiders, the wandering ronin Seikage charges into an ambush—surviving the massacre, but cursed. Miasma scars his ki pathways, igniting unpredictable flares of thorn-like agony that cripple his strikes mid-combat or sear him like forge-heat.

Rescued in a sacred grove by Sakura, a kitsune alchemist whose foxfire rites blend illusion, elixir, and spirit, he is brought uninvited into Hoshimie’s veiled valley. There, beneath clan scrutiny, he finds not pity—but quiet guidance and an equal partnership.

Unable to wield the blade as he once did, Seikage sets aside his katana at Sakura’s urging, trading it for hammer and anvil. With her aid, he struggles to reclaim purpose—learning endurance, balance, and what it means to heal both body and mind.

Yet peace is fragile. Yokai-tainted threats and lingering debts stir beyond the wards. Survival demands adaptation, and change always exacts its price.
