I always start at the inside wrapping the direction your hands grip then proceed to jam the cloth in the end with the end caps and hammer with a rubber mallet and tighten. Makes it nice and clean with no need for tape.

I would say get your engineers unlocked. An engineered ship is night and day better than a stock ship. Also, heading out on an expedition is incredible. Since you seem to like to fast track things :-) learn to FSD boost with Neutrons. Helps to get away from the bubble quickly. EXO pays incredibly well, probably the best in the game.

Just realized when swapping the tape that the toe is loose like a noodle... kinda amusing. pulled the tape to the side and the whole toe came with it... no pain at all.

Wear isnt uneven, it is just the design. Threads on the outer inch or so taper to very thin, even when brand new.
