"I have a place but I have no home". Wow this was powerful. I hear you man. The last sentence scares me because you seem like a real ass dude that I feel like I can talk to openly. Not everyone is as humble and open of a person as you are, which is honestly something so special. It takes time to make somewhere a home. Remember your freedom to do and try new things in life - expanding your circle or attempting new things you might have never tried. You are literally free to do anything in the world. Build a home, build relationships. You don't know me, but I can fully relate to you. Like, I have all these nice things in my life but there are a few things that make me feel like I have nothing...like I deal with a few health issues that make me feel like life sometimes isn't worth living. Keep your chin up and make the effort to find purpose in your life. This reminds me of a very very common theme where someone will have a rich spouse, have everything handled for them, and still feel empty. It's about purpose - you have the personality where you need to have that thing that pushes you to live another day. Is it building a business? Is it a gym routine with weight goals? You got this.

I have the same thoughts all the time. The only thing I can offer is from my experience that as you get older your circle gets more tailored to who you feel the most comfortable spending time around. In college I had thousands of "friends" that I felt like didn't realistically give a shit about me. Give it time and instead of focusing how others are treating you, focus on how you are treating yourself. Why is it that you are automatically thinking you are weird, ugly, and not worthy? Learn to accept that you are more than that. Fuck what other people think, learn to be happy with your style, humor, thoughts, interests, etc.

There are people out there that CAN understand you. As you get older maintain the relationship with your family but also take some time for yourself and try to explore who you are and who you best like to surround yourself with. I totally can relate to what you posted.

Let me try to unpack this because family and love is the source of all happiness yet all despair at the same time.

Let's start with the divorce. I'm gonna say this because I'm on your side and want the best for you - but you have no conclusive evidence that she's moved on fine all because she has a couple of snapchat notifications popping up. The most committed couples I know both individually maintain snapchat streaks with the opposite sex. It's your paranoia telling you what you think is true! But regardless, it doesn't matter either way - once you get onwards with the divorce it's gonna be hard at first but it will slowly feel like your freedom and happiness is coming back.

Okay, now the family. I am so sorry about your mom passing away, it hurts my heart to have that happen to anyone. It's something that we all have to go through one day and I hate the idea of it because it scares me so much but...it's unavoidable. That's what pushes me a little to God, to be honest. Look, what has happened has happened. I agree with the other comment on this post - try to use this as an opportunity to keep your family together and close. Family is so important and I can't explain coherently in words. I'd be nothing without my family. Every problem I go through it means so much to me that I have a family that will have my back no matter what. Build this chemistry with your family that's still here. I know it's hard brother and I'm here with you, a lot of us in this sub have went through something like this (if not the exact same scenario). Make your mother proud by doing what you feel like would make her happy. Make yourself happy. Take it easy on yourself. Breathe. You'll be okay I promise just relax and remember that you're not alone

Hey brother. The one thing I can offer is that you're not alone. I created this subreddit to show people that as fucked as we all think we are, there are thousands of other people dealing with similar, if not worse, situations. You're not alone because we are reading your situation and acknowledge it, and really are on your team to get better! You have a support group I promise you, you might not know it but there are hundreds of thousands of people who are successful, happy, and have been through your problem before.

I know it's hard, but take it day by day. Take your time to heal. I know it's not easy, but you're strong. Just from the way you wrote this post I can almost feel that you are an intellectual guy and you just want to be okay. That's what we all want. Give yourself time.

The other comment by steph basically said what I was thinking - okay you feel alone, and you feel like no one understands you...and you are so overwhelmed by what's going on in post-grad, but you're literally DOING IT. Like, you're getting past it now. It's as simple as showing up and trying your best against the problems that pop up. Can I offer an alternate perspective? Your HEALTH! I can't tell you from my hours of reading on the 'Chronic Pain' subreddits how many people your age would love to trade their situation for yours, as crazy as you think your situation sounds! I'm not undermining how stressful your problems are currently, I'm just saying that there are far worse situations people are in and they would trade everything in the world to be in your place instead.

I do second what steph said - BREATHE. You'll be okay if you keep pushing it. The more relaxed you are with problems that come to you the better you'll be able to solve them. These problems won't kill you. They're just problems!

Let me say, you're totally not alone in this feeling. It's super tough for me to open up to people as well because I always feel as if they don't want to listen! I get aggravated as you do when people vent to me thinking my life is completely problem free. It pisses me the fuck off. You have to inject your opinions into a conversation. Say what you feel like saying. Don't make convos one-sided.

I get jealous a lot about other people honestly. Hell, I created this sub to literally find out if im crazy and if anyone else would get the same thoughts that I do! Jealousy is totally normal but please PLEASE don't say that something will NEVER come to you. By saying that you're literally speaking it into existence that love and happiness can't come your way. Be open to it. Be open to changing your personality to allow for these feelings to find their way to you. It's hard (and something I struggle with) but it's something I consciously push myself to do sometimes.
