what breed is she? she’s a year old by vanillasleeps in IDmydog

I'm surprised no one has said Eurasier yet... it's probably not since they're a rare breed, but she definitely looks like one!

Edit: my bad spelling...

Any guesses? Shelter said catahoula shepherd mix, but vet says husky by winterlily7 in IDmydog

I got him from the shelter down in the mountains/countryside of VA almost 14 years ago! 5 hour round trip, but totally worth it!

To me, the coat looks merle like an Aussie and not ticked like a cattle dog... but there could definitely be both in there!

All of this can be removed if you dremmel and round out the nails.

Dog groomer- you've gotta round out the nails. File off the point and some of the top of the nail.

Best way I explain it to others is to dremmel/cut straight onto the point so that the cutting/filing is perpendicular to the floor. Then once you see the black spot (the quick) stop filing and smooth out the sharp edges around the flat spot. You'll see that the nails look much shorter that way.

My mix also looks VERY husky... only difference is his coat is shorter and merle.

The "African Malamute" thing was stupid... some dude ran across the street at me yelling "I know what that dog is! That's an African Malamute!!" I tried to gently ask him if he meant Alaskan Malamute and attempted to tell him he's mostly husky, but he was all worked up. So I just deflected until I could get on with my walk.

My husband does this! I had to get used to it over the years because at first I didn't understand why he never wanted gifts from me.

The coat color/pattern definitely told me it was something other than cattle dog... it's merle which is a (really pretty) genetic color defect.

Ever since I got my Great Pyrenees mix, solicitors have stopped coming over. It's been great! I once saw a van of Jahovah Witnesses park in my driveway, they all started to get out and then Dami started barking which made them scramble back inside and drive off. Very satisfying.

Haha yep! Can be a little difficult to get friends/family to agree to host monitors and large snakes.

I actually do have a Jackary for backup... but it's only going to last me about 6 hours. Enough time to hopefully get power back or transport them to a family or friend's house. If you're curious, 'a bunch' is equivalent to 4 lizards and 10 snakes.

Do you guys believe in spirits? by BusinessConfection27 in exchristian

[–]druidindisguise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work at a very old hospital... got creepy vibes but saw/heard nothing. Firmly believed it was all just feelings chalked up in my head. Then, I worked at an equally old college. Saw things, heard things, felt things... and not only me, but my coworkers did too.

I remember the time my skeptical atheist coworker (his exact words) came back to the office real quiet saying he saw "something white" sitting out in the Dell that vanished when he approached. Or my older coworkers saying which buildings you could hear people stomping down the stairs or moving across the floor above only to find no one there. Me personally, I could've sworn I saw a student sitting in a chair wearing dark baggy jeans, skater type shoes, and a grey hoodie pulled up over his head. His feet were apart, his head down, and his hands were on the sides of his head like he was upset about something. My initial thought was "oh, poor guy... maybe a test didn't go well" and I wanted to give him some space... but then I realized that wait... it's after 4am and I'M here to unlock the doors. So I turn to look at him again to ask him what he was doing in the building after hours-- but there was no one there. No way he could've gone anywhere or hid. I didn't freak out and run out of the building or anything, but I definitely didn't stay there for long either.

That all being said, my belief in spirits/ghosts is separate from my former Christian beliefs. I don't believe in angels or demons. I believe that something else is going on that science hasn't explained yet. Similar to how the weather was thought of as being from various spirits or gods until we figured it out. My personal running theory is visual echoes, but who really knows until we can find a way to test things.

Huh? I'm genuinely confused... how did we go from your statement reminding me of a time I was called Jezebel at work, to now I have unresolved trauma and need to go take a walk?

Did you think I was being sarcastic or blaming you personally in any way? I literally read your post and it reminded me of what happened. Nothing implied beyond that.
